white rappers were the rage back then; it was the vanilla ice era. LOL Although I'm not sure what genre they considered that; seems like it was played on Top 40 radio over and over.

True, but this many years later not too much has changed (other than the style of rap): see Eminem, Macklemore, Iggy Azalea.

But nowadays those types of artists get accused of the very serious and very PC crime of "cultural appropriation" whereas in the late 80s/early 90s Vanilla Ice/Snow era they just tended to be mocked in a general sense for not being authentic.

I accepted a $1 hit to make a book cover for this book. Are they serious? I bet they get some real winners.

Sample 2 from chapter: . I looked at Rosy. She nodded and took the fairy, cradling it as a mother cradles a baby and singing through her tears the Song of Nemesis, which only women may sing, which would most quickly and mercifully end the fairy’s suffering and send it to rejoin its fellows. We moved on, snuffling. In the kitchen was a pile of rotting meat –but some of the joints were unmistakably human flesh and two more dead fairies lay right in the middle

 

It's bad that I have no idea who Iggy Azalea and Macklemore are, because I pay no attention to the 'trendy music' that kids listen to these days. Music has gone downhill since the 90's. Since my early 20's I've only listened to hard rock/metal genre and have no clue about pop/rap, for the most part, except for a few songs here and there. In my opinion, today, it doesn't get any better than Five Finger Death Punch these days. LOL. I've been into their music over the past few years. LOL

 

I used to be pretty good at art but I haven't drawn/painted in so long now, I doubt I'm very good anymore. But still, when I saw that HIT I was tempted to accept it because the story was just so terrible, I wanted to make an equally terrible cover.
