Do you have sand bags? The county gov. will actually bring them to your house in Charleston, I don't know about the surrounding counties. It might be worth it to make some inquiries though.

No, we don't have anything like that. We are not in an area where this usually happens and since they did go so far as to send out one single guy with a shovel and hip waders and decided they were stumped on what to do when he couldn't fix the drainage, I doubt they will have anything like that. As long as it isn't as bad over night as it was all day, we should be okay, I hope. I will be setting my alarm to get up and check every couple hours to be safe.

 

I'm sorry, sorry that you wont be getting a lot of sleep tonight, and sorry for the stress you're feeling. This is all supposed to be done by Monday morning. I feel bad about your chickens too, I desperately want some of my own, but my area is too urban. Sunshine is predicted for Tuesday, so hang in there.

I have babies, so I don't get much sleep anyway, lol. But thank you! And if you really want chickens, there are groups that can help you try to get them in your area. They really don't take up much room, and as long as you don't have roosters, they are generally pretty quiet. I just moved from Norfolk, VA which is a very big, urban area and they are even allowing people to have up to 6 hens per family now. If it's worth the effort to you and you can get things changed, you should. They are a lot of fun.

Honestly, I am not supposed to have my chickens either. I call them my covert chickens. I have only had them for about 5 months and they should have started laying soon. I got them when they were day old, so I am a little depressed over the whole thing, but at least the kids and the house are safe, so far. I plan on getting some more when things dry out a little, but I might buy some that are already laying next time. I didn't get a single egg out of these yet and I am not willing to wait another 6 months or so. I am going to try to get the laws changed here too and was using them as a way of showing how long I had them and no one even noticed.

 

my problem is i keep having to stop to hit play/pause. i wish it could hook my foot pedal up and use it. it would go so much quicker.

I'm not even sure what laws are in place here regarding chickens. There is a House up the street where I know some chickens live. Those beautiful birds occasionally leave their enclosure to come out and say hello to my dog when I walk her. She's a really gentle soul, so it works out.

I have a decent sized back yard, and it is well fenced for my dog, but my neighbor has some aggressive canines. One bit my pup through the fence when she was out one day. One killed my other neighbors small dog when it got away one night and snuck under the fence. The house next door is a rental property, and I've made some complaints to their landlord, barking, aggressive dogs, danger to the neighborhood etc., but no action on his part.

It's kind of agonizing waiting for things to be approved on the weekends. I've done a bunch of hits, and they're all just sitting there. I know I did a good job, but that red spot on the dashboard just isn't what I want to see.
