    Hello everyone!

I'm new to both mturk and this forum, but I have been lurking around on the the Great HITS everyday since I was approved on mturk. I figured I should probably come out from the darkness and say greetings to all before my probationary period is done and over with. So.. Hi. :) I'm sure I'll be posting around here and there with newbish questions and comments, so please be prepared.

I actually have a quick question before I submit this (I hope it is ok that I post it in here). After the first ten days of submitting HITs do I get to withdraw my earnings right away on the eleventh day? I have only a few hits pending and all the others say Approved - Pending Payment. So please correct me if I am wrong, but those pending payment HITs will then be deposited into my payments account, right?

    Any response is greatly appreciated.

-from what I've heard & seen from everyone else so far, you're right. Please don't take my word for it though since I'm only 6 or so days old myself (it will be nice not to worry about that HIT limit everyday...)

Anyway, welcome to the forums, fellow new turker!~ :D

Daiko is correct. The one thing about that 11th day is that there is a chance that not all of your Approved earnings will transfer over to your Amazon Payments account right away. So although that's the first day you have a right to withdraw all your money, some of it may still be trickling through the system for a bit, although it would be unlikely that this would go on for more than a few extra days.

(And, you might have access to all of it right away! Kinda luck of the draw. :) )

Well... Technically you will have access to withdraw on the 11th day if you meet the min threshold of $1 in your Amazon Payments account. Used to be $10, but it was recently lowered.

    BTW, welcome! :)

hm, as a new MTurker, it's really interesting to hear about how things used to be before now- Amazon sure changed a lot of things since last year it seems...

    ****
EDIT: I've heard different things about keeping funds in Amazon Payments- am I right in thinking that it is best to withdraw often into one's bank account often so that there won't be too much money left in Payments?

I've also heard that something happens if there is more than $500 or so in Payments, but I don't know what that is exactly- I'd research it if I knew what it was, but since I don't, I figured I'd try in here first. (Almost all the other MTurkers seem to be here, so why not?)

I thank you in advance for whatever you can tell me about the above~

They really have. I wasn't expecting a second edition of the transcription-help book, for example, to be necessary so soon. But with CrowdSurf and surprising changes like this...now I'm planning it for just before spring.

This part I can also address. The general wisdom here is that yes, you should withdraw as often as possible. When it was $10 I withdrew several times a day, and I pretty much still stick to that number as my personal threshold.

However, your personal threshold should depend on how much you're willing to lose if worst comes to worst. If it happens that Amazon thinks there's some issue with your Payments account, you could lose whatever's in there at the time. And of course, their system could go down and leave you temporarily unable to access any funds kept there, or your account could be hacked.

So for me, that comes back to $10 or less as my comfort zone. :) But anyone who wants to keep theirs even tighter now can do that, too.
