I use an iphone too. I borrowed a friend's to do it. Did the same thing last time. See if your roommate has one or try to borrow one from a neighbor if they don't mind. The app itself is safe.
Well, safe in the sense that it doesn't break your phone. However, what it does with your phone data is anyone's guess. It has permissions to practically every aspect/function of the device. However, they're not a fly by night company, so that's the only solace.
