Anyone know much about Windows 10? Is there a magic button somewhere that says "I am leaving this computer on for one and only one reason: so you can download and install updates. Please cooperate by downloading and installing said updates AS FAST AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN. DO IT FUCKING NOW ALREADY." It's been sitting there for over 2 hours now and is 30% done simply downloading updates. We are not talking the Fall Creators Update or anything like that. Just plain old windows updates. It always seems to take hours and hours. It downloads at max speed for 30 seconds, then ponders for half an hour before continuing. I don't understand what is so wrong with the windows 7 approach I have on the desktop. It checks for updates and lets me know there's one waiting. When I am done for the day I click the download updates button and by the time I am back from brushing my teeth it is downloaded, installed, done. Easy.

I simply can't tell you how much I hate Windows 10. My crappy laptop got updated from 7 to 10 when MS pulled that sleazy trick where clicking the X to close the dialog was treated as consent to upgrade. I decided not to force it back to Windows 7 because (a) I was far from convinced it would revert correctly and (b) I don't use the laptop much but using it would get me used to Windows 10 for when Microsoft ends support for 7 and I have to do something about my desktop, which I use all the time for turking. What has actually happened is I use the laptop even less because of Windows 10. And I am almost certainly going to be installing Linux on my desktop when they end support for Windows 7.

Put a few cans of pennies in the tree, situated so they'll fall if he jiggles it. He should stop after a few times. That's how I trained all my cats.
