    Myopia and Schlep--
If the lily pad doubles every day, then on the day before it's finished, the 47th, there are 24. I'm not giving anything away about a survey because these 4 puzzles turn up hundreds of times.

The baseball question doesn't have to be taken literally. Do you want to know how many months it took me to figure out the price? It's an algebraic problem and I couldn't do it till someone told me.

The puzzles are not about lily pads or baseballs, and you know that.

It will return you to the next one down if you have mmturkeybacon Queue Order Fix. But when the queue is empty you get returned to an all-hits page.

No way to return multiple hits...yet...

Anyone ever get this one? You're a train engineer and there's a switch up ahead on the tracks. If you continue along your path, you'll kill one person. If you use the switch to move to the other track, you'll kill 5. What do you do?

The trick to that question is to work in reverse.

I'd like them to give me an open-ended answer box in which to tell them I would like to kill whichever group of people they themselves are a part of. Mosey on down to the track, little psych student... Yes, right there. Now ignore the rattle of the trolley wheels on the rails and stand very, very still...

    You're so funny!
Those puzzles have been around for years, maybe before you were born. Only the one about the train has no right or wrong answer. If you know the others, you should be able to breeze through them.

Don't be stepping in on our money! They could make the question realistic. A baseball bat and ball cost $120. the bat costs $100. how much does the ball cost? Still a very simple question while using 2018 pricing.

I am well aware that the trolley and train problems have no right answers. The fact that there is no right answer, that they are a completely and utterly pointless emotional torture, renders them more annoying, not less.

As for the IQ test questions, they aren't always the bat & ball, lily pad bullshit. Some of these little bastards get super cute and unearth obscure questions that require actual thought, burning through time and energy they are seldom if ever adequately paying for. And/or they sock you with a series of algebraic story problems. It's been thirty years since my last algebra class, and I no longer remember how to do that bullshit. It turns out that in actual adult life, you can get by quite nicely without it, and what you don't use, you lose. I have no interest in taking a refresher course in algebra in order to better earn the couple of bucks an hour most of these little dipshits are offering.

Sometimes, I wish I were in the same room as they were, so I could at least make them breathe my farts, seeing as they're filling my eyes with theirs.

Yup. Turns out "thinking is not my idea of fun" unless I get to choose the subject matter.

56 years since my last algebra class. The train puzzle is about making ethical decisions, not about trains. But i wish they would invent some new stories

Actually I use algebra occasionally. If I charge a customer $110 total with sales tax, and there's an 8.75% sales tax here, how much should I put aside from the $110 to pay the sales tax on my quarterly sales tax form?

You use math every day without realizing it. Maybe not algebra. Income tax, counting money, figuring which box of cookies is the better buy, calculating your 20% discount during a store sale...

You're so outrageously funny! You could avoid certain kinds of hits.
