Unfortunately as of sometime in late 2012, it seems that mTurk is only accepting accounts from the US.

So I'm on my 11th day of turking now, why does it still say "you are not allowed to disburse earnings until 10 days after you submitted your first hit" when I click on "transfer earnings"? I have my bank account all connected to Amazon payments.....

Did you do hits every day for the first 10 days? The probation period ends after doing 3 hits for 10 different days.

Using Chrome, have Tampermonkey and Hit Database installed. **Where in hit database or hit list can I see hits I've already done??

I see I can search on the bottom of my screen by requester, etc., but isn't there a marker of some sort right **in the list of Hits** that shows me those I've already done?

    Thanks--

Hello! Yes I did more than three on each day, my very first day of jobs was on January 9th. I do have some more recent Hits still pending on pay but still did more than three on those days...

For me it was day 12, I think, before I could transfer my earnings out. Even though I'd done my full 100 every day pretty much!

Also, just wanted to say to everyone, thanks so much for all the info! This place has really made my first three weeks turking so much better than if I was going in blind! (I've been lurking since day one on the job.)

    Hello everyone!

I'm new to the forum but been turking since April 2014. I wanted to know what do you all use to capture hits quicker. I have seen things like greasemonkey or turkmaster but have no idea what the links are for those. I use Firefox so it has to be with that.

Greasemonkey is a firefox extension used to load userscripts, like Turkmaster and Hit Scraper. I suggest those two scripts to find hits quicker. I also suggest getting the HitDB (I don't know which is working on firefox at the moment, but here is the one for chrome) so that you can keep track of your surveys.

To use hit scraper, go to https://www.mturk.com/mturk/findhits?match=true?hit_scraper. I usually leave all the defaults and only change the minimum reward value and search. If you put a number in the autorefresh delay, it'll keep searching over and over. Combine that with the "ding on new hits" and a good blocklist, and you've got something that'll ding whenever something comes up with your given options.

As for Turkmaster (abbreviated TM), you'll need to keep a dashboard tab open at all times. Just open it in a new window and minimize it. Then, when someone posts a hit that you didn't catch, just click the "watch this hit?" button (You'll see it when you install the script), set the check interval (I usually use between 10 and 30s when trying to catch a hit), click "alert", click "Auto Accept" and "stop on accept", then start. TM will monitor in the background and will let you know when it catches the hit.

You can also monitor requester pages to know when a favorite requester posts a hit, or you can use it to queue up a batch. To queue up a batch, just de-select the "stop on accept".

When you go to your TM dashboard window, you'll see all your searches there. A "play" button (▶) means the search is NOT running. A "pause" button (❚❚) means the search is currently running.

I plan to make videos about all of these eventually, but this should be a decent guide until then. Feel free to stop by the daily hits thread for some more advice from others!

I'm searching for the p9r but I keep getting the message that my search didn't match any HITS. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I would say it's because they don't have any hits up.

    Couple of questions

Hi folks! I'm sort of new but not new - had a dabble back in 2011 and now I'm back. :smokin:

    Couple of questions:

    1. How to deal with tips on JB HITS. I'm getting a few restaurant receipts through and just want to confirm that we leave tips out of the final balance.

    2. Is there some way of saving receipt lists as we're going along? There's no autosave in place as far as I can see. One false move from my sleeve and a couple of times now I've lost a complete list of over 50 items. Yeah I know - watch where your sleeves are going - but it was a crushing blow to lose all that work!

    Thanks!

I'm back after a year and I can't get the HIT database to update or whatever, keep getting this message:

Please wait: script monkeys are preparing to start working

I went through the other threads and couldn't find a resolution.

Try re-installing it with this script:

    https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/3794-mturk-hit-database-fixer-read-description

THIS WILL DELETE YOUR HITDB! ENSURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP BEFORE INSTALLING/RUNNING THIS SCRIPT!

THIS WILL DELETE YOUR HITDB! ENSURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP BEFORE INSTALLING/RUNNING THIS SCRIPT! This is designed to help if your hitDB says "Script monkeys are preparing to work" or whatever, but never actually doing anything. If you look in your console, you should see things like "Uncaught NotfoundError: Failed to execute 'transaction' on 'IDBDatabase': One of the specified object stores was not found." AFTER RUNNING THIS SCRIPT, DISABLE IT! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

    Hi everyone,
Relatively new here. I've been turking on and off but would like to do more being a work at home mom and all. I have two questions...
First, does anyone happen to know how often Crowdsource replenishes their hits? I was rocking and rolling with the question classification hits until they dried up. Will there be more on the way?

Second, is there a way to up your score with SpeechInk? I can't find a link on the SpeechInk site to retake the test. My qualification is just under the number needed to start working.
    TIA!

The best way to see what Crowdsource HITs are available to you is to check on the Crowdsource workstation instead of on mturk.com.

    Hi! Welcome to the forum!

The "Classify: A Question" HITs pop up every day or two, so keep an eye out for them. Of course, nothing is forever in turking, so I can't promise anything, but they've been around since Christmas time, at least as far as I've noticed.

I don't have an answer for you about SpeechInk; I've never worked on those HITs before. But! Generally speaking most folk here hang out in the daily HITs thread; come post your question in today's and it'll get a better chance at getting answered.

Newbie here. I wanted to start a thread on this question, but apparently I have to "reply" to threads before I can start a thread. So here's my question.

I've heard several people say "get a foot pedal" to use when doing transcribing.

Like they say in Reddit: "Please explain like I'm 5 (yrs old)".

What type of foot pedal are you talking about?

Are there any good brands / models others have liked?

How does it hook up to my computer? (I'm on a PC running Windows 7.)

Can you easily change the foot pedal to work on different transcription HITs?

The transcription HITs I've done so far have used F4 to start and stop, or SHIFT-SPACE. Can 1 pedal do both?

    TIA from a newbie.
