    I started out wide-eyed & optimistic. I studied for days, I lurked around the forums & read everything I could. I Googled & Binged & Asked until I ran out of quality posts to read. I eagerly tried to learn about strategy & scripts & everything else I could. I convinced the hubby that I would soon have a thriving career, I announced to Fb friends/family that I was sure this time, this time my ship was finally on it's way in.
    :tsk:
    I spent all day, literally, on mturk. I made $2.32, with $5.47 pending. (Insert big sigh here.) Thanks for listening.

    Some advice from a recent n00b..search on mTurk and use parameters like pay at least $1 and check "for which I am qualified". This always brings up some surveys (that pay at least $1) Since you've been researching, you know that you have to have numbers (approved hits) so that you can get better hits, so you have to do batches. This forum is a great place for information when batches come out.

    I actually didn't tell any of my family and friends when I started Turking, just in case it WAS a scam. Didn't want to sit there with egg on my face. I got into this because I just got DSL and wanted to find a way to pay for it online. I have since made enough to pay my DSL bill, get Netflix and Hulu, buy a pair of glasses, and yesterday, took my husband out to eat at Texas Roadhouse.

    You are not going to get rich doing this, but if you Turk "smart" you can get some nice little pocket change.
    You are not going to

    I was told the first month would be pretty grueling, but within a few hours of starting I was making $10 from grabbing up surveys that paid at least $.50 a piece. Those were fairly quick, tops it took about 15 minutes for the longer ones that gave two hours of allotted time.

    If you follow the Greatest HITs link, you'll do well from what I've discovered.

    You could have spent your first few hours doing Breligs and barely had a dollar to show for it. It'll get better. It's not going to be a thriving career, like, ever, though.

    I understand how you feel. I'm trying to do the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover and I'm on baby step number 1: Setting up a $1,000.00 emergency fund. I eventually want to become debt free. My goal is to be completely debt free in 3 years. I'm sure I will have to make money in other ways besides this one. I've just started this about two weeks ago, and only have about 36 dollars. But I'm trying to remain positive. That's 36 bucks that I didn't have two weeks ago. I've read about some folks who make pretty decent money on here but I'm sure they've been doing it quite a while. That's one of the reasons I'm on this forum. To get feedback and see how this is done.

    I am new myself, but I will share what I have been doing as it seems to be working for me. I start the day working higher paying hits like surveys until I hit my dollar goal for the day. Then I spend the rest of the day working easy low dollar tasks just to get my numbers up. I look at those tasks not as a pay but as a time investment in making the future easier. It helps me feel less discouraged that way when I spend an entire afternoon transcribing business cards!

    Work Smarter not Harder; some tips to get ahead in the next few months.

    Only been turking for 6 months. Here is where I am at now. Find your niche.
    7 hits for $30.95 in less than 2 hours task time spread over an 8 hour period yesterday (5 pending). Granted I am stuck doing phone and bubble surveys because I am the slowest typist in the world, but I watch DVDs while waiting for the good hits. {Nov 13, 2013 12 7 0 5 $30.95}
    If you are good on the phone, do all the phone surveys you can find, the kind where YOU ask the questions . Don't fudge on these surveys as the first calls will likely be to a quality control person to see if you follow instructions. Sooner or later someone will recruit you to do more surveys on an invite basis. These can pay (no kidding) $20 to $30 an hour. That figure includes dialing, rejections and no answers. Also be on the lookout for psych, science and marketing surveys, the $2.00 and up variety. Their follow ups, though not common, pay in the 6 to 10 dollar/hr range. Get at least 1000 hits with 99% approval and search continuously for best results.
    P.S. Return rate means nothing. Mine is 18.4% and I still get the good hits. Return any crappy hit.
    Good turking everyone.

    OH, yes. Use the filters. At first you want pay the most first. I think default is pay least.
