This thread has been sooo helpful! I did not have to return any Oscar Smith Hits today! Whoo Hoo! Cards that I couldn't read, I wrote "Can not read" on the title if it was because it was too blurry or wrote "foreign language" if it wasn't written in English. Cards with more than one address I typed in the first address just on the lines and then on another line wrote "Second address" and then did the second address the same way. Cards with more than one phone number, I just added a number and marked "Other" if it wasn't obvious where that number went. Cards with a non US address I wrote International before I started the address on the following lines. Cards where I didn't see a logo or didn't know what was the logo - I highlighted the entire card. It made everything go so much faster and smoother for me since I knew what I was doing. Hope my putting these tips all on one post helps the next person.
Are you sure about doing 2 addresses that way? I've been skipping the 2nd address. I read somewhere that you just choose the left address. I've heard you dont need to write international before starting the address. This is so confusing. I've read different answers to the same questions so it's hard to know which one will not subtract your points.
What's the lowest Oscar rating you've had or seen? My rating just went down another point in the last hour after doing another easy and uncomplicated hit. Now I just did another one from France. I didn't return it because it wasn't something ridiculously hard like Chinese. I have no illusions that I did that one right, but at least I didn't return it.
I sent Oscar a message about this a long time ago, and he did say just use one address and to pick the one on the left.
Correction I got an email from Oscar and this is what it said: Thanks for the email. If a card has more than one address, one name, one email address, one website address, please choose only the first one from each category. Regards
I dont understand the ratings either. I will be 86 and then 84 and then 82 and then back to 86. It doesn't make any sense. I don't return any of the Oscar Smith hits - if I get a card I can't read, I write that I can't read it and submit - they get accepted, plus I feel like if I can't read it the next turker probably can't either so why put it back in the batch?
Mine is at 83. Yesterday was 84, then day before was 85. Highest I ever got was 89. I don't get it. I try so hard to get it right and I am a perfectionist! It drives me crazy not knowing what I am doing wrong!! Grrr...
So how did you get it? I am doing what the directions say as far as I can tell. I'm not returning any anymore. It's still hard for me to believe that returning them would reflect negatively on our rating.
I dont return any and yet my score goes up and down between 81 - 86 but never over 89. It's all about the small errors we don't know of like whether to use caps, cropping correctly or putting the address in the right way.
I got my rating to a 95 and gave up. Now I'm at a 30! =] Needless to say I'm much happier. I suffered for some long hours, doing this hits for pennies on the hour. I felt like I was getting robbed, by not receiving a confirmation for the trusted worker. I'm not going to make 1.50 an hour, trying to be a perfectionist and not getting awarded nothing. I gave up on quality, and started summit ting the cards, according to what he's paying. Now I can knock out 15.00 in Oscar Hits quickly and don't have to worry about his nonsense grading system.
i always use caps where caps are on the card. It often looks funny because part of the company is in caps and part is not, but if we're supposed to copy exactly then that's what I do. I don't know any other way of cropping an address if there is one. If it's an American address there is only one way to do it. I can also only assume that it's the same for Canada with the province standing in for state since the phone numbers are also the same. The others are all so different that's it's impossible to do anything but take each individual card as it comes.
Now I am trying to do them quickly, not paying too much attention or going back to double check, but if I see a mistake as I go along I can't help but fix it.
Aww. I just did 2 today just to see what my today's score was. I finally got my score to 90!! My first time! Regardless of the pay, I am just doing it to practice my typing and keypunching skills for when I find a job as this is my only source of income. I'm grateful for this site.
