Filing Taxes and What Form/s

  1. For those who have filed their taxes in the past and are filing this year what forms do you use? Is it 1040 AND Schedule C?

Because we are self employed, the form we use is Schedule C in with 1040. Schedule C-EZ works too, shorter form of Schedule C.

  3. Thank you for the reply. It looks like that form is for claiming expenses though?

Schedule C (as well as C-EZ) has a section for income as well as expenses. That form will also direct you to a Schedule SE where you will calculate the self-employment tax (goes to social security and medicare.)

If you made less than $433 in self-employment (Turking in this case), then you don't pay anything extra above your regular income tax and you don't need to include Schedule SE.
