Most of the time if you fail an attention check you are just routed to the end of the survey and don't receive a code. Some requestors even allow you to redo the survey. Why do some let you get through an attention check, let you do the entire survey including entering the code at the end, and then later reject the HIT? This should not be allowed. A reject should only be for callous disregard of all questions by entering random choices. Can't Amazon standardize reject reasons?

I wish. Amazon wants nothing to do with Mturk and expects workers and requesters to work it out. We are at the mercy of the requesters basically. Really isn't fair to get rejected for missing an attention check. They see it as if you didn't pay attention then the whole data is useless. Some will reject for their own errors in the survey, for not providing a code and even for going too fast saying you can't possibly give it much thought etc. List goes on. Best we can do is dispute the rejections by sending them a polite message and hope for the best. I've never been rejected for not having a code when there was supposed to be. (I just put my worker ID in instead) I usually send a message or if I see that other people are saying the same thing then I don't bother.

I decided that I had nothing to lose by politely writing to the requester and he reversed the reject. It helps to be nice
