    Hey everyone,

My name is Matt and I'm glad I finally found a place where folks can chat about the MTurk experience. It seems to be a pretty nifty website. I already completed a few HITS (although I just had to return a survey HIT that I took which failed to provide the survey code at the end!) and already had some of them approved.

I hope to talk more with all of you! :D

    Welcome, Matt.

I have had a survey not return a survey code and contacted the requester, who approved the HIT. Sometimes there are technical problems and the requester doesn't know until someone alerts them.

    Happy turking!

Thanks! Yeah, I had to return the HIT after sending my message to the Req (How do I check for messages sent back?) to make sure I didn't end up with an "abandoned" HIT on my record that was due to a technical issue. I appreciate any tips on getting started. :)

    MTurk site guide

    Welcome to the forums~

    hm...

I believe that you should be able to see the feedback requesters leave you by looking at your detailed statistics on your dashboard- click on the specific dates, and you'll see the full list of both the requesters & their HITs that you worked on during that day along with if they payment is in process or not. Also, in this area of the dashboard, you will see *exactly WHO* gave you rejections & sometimes the requester will tell you why- unfortunately, not all do this for whatever mysterious reason(s?) they have.

(I did 8 HITs for Tagasauris in which we were to tag & classify images that were all rejected without any feedback from them at all- I tried getting in touch with them and sent them a message through the form provided on my dash, but they haven't said a single word back to me in response.

I've left this information about them in my review over in TurkOpticon so hopefully others will take warning & not risk having their accuracy go down because of them.

So, yeah, I don't recommend these guys or Project Oscar/Oscar Smith/LinkedIn- but Oscar is another story...)

As for tips on how to get started- take the time to read all the guides here on this site; also, 2muchturkin's Mturk-guide.com is very comprehensive & caters to beginners within their first 10 days; make sure that you find TurkOpticon and install it in the browser of your choice, either Chrome or Firefox (I have this installed in both browsers on all my PCs) this is very helpful since this is how Mturk workers review the requesters & share our working experiences...

-there are even more, but some of them cater to people who are further along than the first 10 and some cover specific areas of Mturk work like transcription; also, I haven't checked out too many more than what I've already listed, but there are some other places that seem to have promising information that I will list now:

CloudMeBaby- another forum, but I haven't looked at it since I live here

Mturk wiki- a wiki for Mturkers, fairly new, but holds a lot of promise from what I've seen of it so far

Turk Alert- this one is tried & true but a bit limited in scope, it shows you fresh postings of HITs from requesters, but there are other tools you can use that can do this even better and filter out the results too

    and lastly, there's this: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/mturkers
-it's a page on FA that I made that serves as a worker's hub since it has a bunch of easy to click links of all the places I've listed earlier in this post- I wanted to make it easier for MTurkers to find each other & help out where I could

-I think this is all I know about that would help you and I wish you good luck with turking!~ :D

    take care.
