I really wanted to throw my computer. I had a doctor's appointment today and we are trying to put off having another back surgery, so they put me on a higher dosage of medication to try to get me through until I start my spring term in Jan. Those letters really started messing with me. LOL..I could barely keep up with one letter back let alone for 3 letters back. Plus I really started craving a cookie.
CS has been posting work that pays anywhere from $15-30 an hour depending on your skill for the last two months, every single day. But people want to work for medcrowd or mfuse for 6 or 8. Reading instructions and doing quality work will garner a higher income on mturk. What I mean by this is you posted about taking a survey and you posted that you gave the requester a piece of your mind in your answer about the time. But because you were not reading, you didnt notice that this was a quality control question and you missed it because you were not reading and paying attention. That is why you will make 2-3 an hour. That is why others make over $100 a day, because we take this seriously and it is a job for us.
and omg i am not arguing (well maybe i am) but it's innocent arguing i think. my words arent in caps lol... and i'm not insulting or anything. i am a very civil girl. edit: O.O dont even remember what i was doing before this...
eek, hope your back gets better... yeah, it was sort of like the survey was in a competition with itself to see how nightmarish it could get. it won.
It's much like when I see someone making fast food. I wouldn't tell them they can expect to make big bucks. I would be more realistic and give them some alternatives to make more money. In this case the alternatives I gave actually complement Mturk work. As low as the pay is, Mturk is great for filling in the gaps of other online jobs. But like you said before, it shouldn't be used as a full time job in and of itself, at least not for most people.
Maybe you can try emailing them and asking them if you could retry. I only did it once, but i am not sure if this is repeatable or not (i assume it isnt)
i can't believe how slow the praveen hits are going!! this is one of the most popular requesters on mturk.. so many of us killed to reach the 5k requirement he had for the other hits then he disappeared for a few months.. and now he is back!! woohoo!!! mturk vets who have his quals you guys should jump on these! I'm at $32 so far and just starting turking a couple hours ago.. go get praveen! lol
Since everyone is talking about these writing jobs....I used to do them all the time. I can't remember for the life of me the name of the site, but you went through and picked out jobs. This woman had me write all of her party planning articles. I made about $60 a week trying to make her happy. It just became too much. I am a straight A student who can write A+ thesis papers, and had the advising tutor offer me a job helping other students, but for some reason I can't seem to please a lot of the requester on writing sites. It drove me nuts and I got burnt out. MTurk may not pay like some other companies, but look at it this way. You are not stuck doing one job over and over again. You have a variety to choose from and a lot of the hits are actually fun. When you feel like you are getting burnt out on one hit, you move to the next. I would love to be one of those people who averages $50-$100 a day, but I'm not. I have around $20 a day. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I have 3 kids and am a full time student, but right now it works for me. I am not burnt out and that is what is important. I would love to get into the transcribing jobs, but I just don't have the patience right now to try and understand some of the people on those recordings. I don't sweat it though. I have made enough to give my kids a wonderful Christmas and keep our head above water since my husband got laid off. Plus, now my husband is Turking because he wants to try to combine the incomes and spend more time with the kids. He worked 60 hours a week and got burnt out on his job. I guess the point I am trying to make is that we can all sit here and talk about how one site is better than another, but at the end of the day all that matters is that you enjoy what you are doing. You are not burnt out and you are putting a little extra cash in your pocket. It is also a huge plus to have a place like this to come where people are there to help you and know what you are going through. Most sites don't have that, and you rarely find it at your average 9-5 job.
Not sure if this has been posted yet. Don't do it if you've done one with a similar name on 12/5 or 12/10 Title: Two Short Surveys: Attitudes & Personality Requester: Behavioral Lab [A3OSXTUM1QEXNY] (TO) Description: Complete this 5 minute survey and earn 50 cents! lol it's fine ook sorry lol i know it's frustrating when people on here argue so just making it clear it wasnt that kind of arguing. and idk about everyone else but i am not finding any good surveys at all atm.
haha i've pretty much given up on today, at a whopping $25.50 thanks to the obesity bonus... gonna kill some zombies and not even hint at doing the top tier qual because that's tantamount to a promise that it'll just sit there another day...
How is it advertising if I'm making light of the fact that I fucked up and missed one of the "attention checkers" after one of the most boring surveys I've done thus far and following it up with a meme? Just curious.
