How do you make the "BIG BUCKS" doing this?

Ok, I guess by big bucks, I mean 10-50 dollars a day. Maybe I am just not cut out to make that kind of massive dough. I started 12/3 and have made about $100, but I've worked like a frickin donkey.

I type with two fingers, so massive typing exercises certainly are not for me. I've done surveys with mixed results. The most pleasant experience I've had was a $4.70 bonus for some routine survey which I think dished out 20 cents as the basic pay. Still, I'm tired of answering the same questions over and over (am I racist, do I love my country, am I religous, blah blah blah). They all ask the same logic questions that I saw in brain teaser books when I was 9.

I know the basics about requestors (I don't like to mention requestors by name, but these are hardly a secret).

Oscar Smith? Sorry, Oscar, you're a fair guy, but I don't think I'd take your hits anymore for 5 times what you offer.

Crowdflower -- I've never been rejected, but I can't ever figure out what these folks really want, and the pay seems pretty low, even for the accepted standards here.

Crowdsource -- Hit and miss. Not too bad with available hits.

Article summaries -- I've done these often for 25 cents. In real life, I think anybody who does one of these competently should be paid 10 dollars.

From what I understand, "massive typing exercises" are pretty much the keys to the kingdom. I haven't done any yet either. :(

Surveys are how I make the bulk of my earnings. They usually pay out faster, and it's motivating to see the total amount gradually tick up.

You just started so many opportunities wont open until you get some hits under your belt. You need at least 1000 approved hits to get some hits to allow you to do them. Oscar is terrible. .02 for the work is bs. Sure he pays, but I wouldnt do them if he paid .05. Hes a bottom feeder that takes advantage of people and then turns around and makes tons of money off your back. The important thing is to find your niche and try to do the best work you can. Turking is as much about luck as it is anything else, that is unless you can transcribe.

Yes, as my numbers go up, I am offered more opportunities. I think everyone has a niche with which they are more comfortable; I cannot for the life of me do Rubin hits...but lots of folks love them.

Oscar - what can I say? He's helped me build my numbers, for which I am thankful, but then again I love typing. His internal numbering system is a bit of a joke for me - sort of a carrot he hangs out there so we'll really strive to make that special "level" where we will be paid $.05 per card.

The most helpful thread is the daily greatest HITs...lots of great folks who share - that's made a big difference for me in learning how to find requesters who are not only reliable, but often have slews of batch hits that can get your numbers up really fast.

I think when the majority of us started out we were making 5.00 a day at the most. You learn a lot as you go. Mturk to me is like a life line, your going to have ups and downs. Your going to learn techniques, your going to learn short cuts, your going to get bonuses, pay cuts (rejections) and more. Every day that goes by try to learn a new technique. Experiment with new programs, tools, internet browswers, etc. See what game plan works best for you. Some people will be faster and more efficient at surveys, while others do other things. Personally I found the most money to be in batch hits, transcriptions, and writing hits. If you get these three down, and perfect all your techniques then you shouldn't have a problem making 150. plus a day.

Hi, this might be a little late, but you might try a program like Typer Shark (Google it and you can find free versions).

I know learning how to type with all your fingers can seem like a daunting task, but it's really the meat to the potatoes for upping your game with mTurk. I used to a be a "pick and peck" typer, but through a program similar to this I was able to learn.

It's almost like learning how to ride a bike. You fall a bunch of times and then one day you get on and never fall off again. I don't know. Food for thought. Good luck!

I write. I have the Top Teir Qual from Crowdsource, and they pay very well (based on mTurk standards, not based on professional writing standards). I can write an article in about 30-45 minutes depending on the research I need to do. That's about $22/hour for me. This works out best because I only have about 1-1.5 hours a day that I can do this. For example, I made $19 during my lunch hour by writing an article and writing some contributing text to existing articles. Before that, I did surveys and made about $3-5/hour. Don't just look for the $1 surveys. Often the little surveys give you a better bang for your buck. $.25 for a 5-min survey is better than $1 for a 30-min survey. For that, the Greatest Hits thread is your best bet. Be sure to contribute to it as well as use it for your efforts. It's only as good as those who contribute.

I do a mix of writing HITs and transcription; I've found that the best-paying HITs (other than the surveys) are really either one or the other. If you're good at writing, or deciphering what other people are saying (I personally find the latter MUCH harder, but I do SpeechInk every now and then for a giggle), this is where you'll find the most lucrative work.

Surveys can be quite good as well; but be careful, because a lot of them are repeated postings and often they'll warn you not to take them twice or you'll face rejections. I keep a small spreadsheet for that purpose.

I mainly do surveys and maybe a bunch of writing tasks. I have to say however, it depends on how much time you have really. I can't do 300 hits a day, dont have time to do that many. I make about $3 a day, but I figure once I pass the 1000 mark, things look a bit better.

Time is money. The money you'll spend contemplating which hits are good and which are bad should better be spent on just doing the hits and at the end of the day, you'll see that you have raked in a good amount of money. So get that ass moving and you'll get results.

A wise man told me once, the key to happiness is to stop thinking and start doing. like walking along the beach, while you were just enjoying the sun and the sand, you'll see that you have come a long way.

The problem with that is that we aren't trying to be happy. We're trying to make money.
