No, his name is not actually Oscar Donavald Garibaldi Smith, then again, it could be, what do I know.

    Anyway, he seems to be the most recommended, golden, favorite, loved requester on mturk and I can't see why;

Everywhere I turn, there's talk about Oscar Smith, questions, answers, discussions but nobody sees through his strategy so let me explain.

He is playing the nice guy, not rejecting any HITs to get a workforce
He increases that workforce by offering you a prize, a goal, a purpose, a light at the end of the tunnel, obviously I'm referring to his qualification

That qualification which pays 150% of the initial reward is a distraction from the fact that his HITs are madly underpaid, I could even go as far as to say they have a lower pay than the crowdflower HITs. Seriously, considering the work required even the 0.05 cards are underpaid.
Now another strategy he uses is the reputation, he will motivate you to do more work by lowering your reputation to determine you to want to fix it, then he also requests a >90 score to get promoted for better paid work so again, he's shining the achievement to get more free work done.

Now, what i'm trying to say is try to hold back on promoting him to all the new people and end up discouraging them, also, there's this nice special location where you could talk about him, it's right here where I posted, it's very visible, why do you feel the need to spread topics about him everywhere on the forum? I feel haunted by the guy, come on, have you never used a forum before?
It's like having a sports section of the forum and posting about sports in the music section, not cool.

As a final note I would like to state I'm not at all frustrated about his existence, and I'm not trying to convince you to stop working for him for any reason, I have done close to no work for him myself, just the obvious test-HITs to try him out considering he had all this positive feedback from the community and I've seen through his mask immediately so think about it, do some math yourself, is the time invested into one card worth the effort? Is he really the kind of person you would recommend to new workers? Is the end goal, the qualification, actually fair pay for one card?

    Hi,

I would like to bring to your notice my experience with him. I am an Oscar Smith "Trusted Worker". It only takes around 20 days for me to get the Oscar Smith Trusted Worker Qualification and also my quality score is always between 90 to 95. If we work sincerely as per the instructions he will grant the Qualification.

    With regards,

    V. Karthikeyan

The HITs aren't worth doing. I laugh every time I see somebody saying "He's a great requester, he always approves my HITs! I can't wait until I get the trusted worker qualification!"

Considering that he'll have several thousand posted at the $0.02 rate and only a few hundred at $0.05, if any at all, is a clear indication that they aren't really paying for quality. They just want you to provide quality work for $0.02 while you try to get his golden turd qualification. Even if you get the qualification, and can consistently submit one every 90 seconds, you're only making two bucks an hour. That's when the $0.05 ones are posted, once those are gone I suspect that his minions go back to working on the $0.02 ones.

If you do not like the work, do not work on the hits.

I am so tired of listening to you people complain about the pay.

But its a truth Mr. Oscar.. You know what is the minimum wage in US? Actually you are cheating workers having low efficiency. As they don't have any other option they are doing your hits. If you are a worker what you will think about this work.. Don't be so cruel like this.

If you do not like the complaints, do not read them.

No problem with the work, it's just the way you're treating your workers. I've done well over 400 cards and my score just magically drops when I'm 89.. Happened 3 times already. I am not accusing you of fixing the scores or something but it is a hard work and you're definitely not making it easier.

When I last emailed you, you replied to 2 different emails of mine with the same exact quote.. I mean come on, we're grown adults here, not some little kids playing around.
