    Greetings from Amazon Mechanical Turk,

You've received a bonus from Decision Sciences for work related to 307FVKVSYRETSE5JGVF83OXFG0K74B.
The value of your bonus is: $2.16 USD

    The Requester included this note:
Because the study took a bit longer than we anticipated, we decided to pay $1.00 in additon to the flat fee. Further, this bonus contains your bonus which depended on the correctness of your answers. Thank you for your participation.

Woot! Good to see a requester that wants to pay honest.

And now my queue has filled up with Kasistos that one and all say "no more data to display."

It's only 11:30 and I already wish I could go back to bed.

Do you ever think about contacting a requester when their pay is just beyond awful? I just saw an hour survey that pays 60 cents. They openly post it in the title and the description. There have been many times that I've completed a slightly underpaid task, but that is outrageous. I always write a mental "are you crazy" message to them.

So sad that I've been on MTurk for over 6 years now and knowing that most of these surveys I take say that the data will be destroyed in 5 years and all my mouse clicks are being erased from existence even as I type this. If only I saved a few empty cans of Steel Reserve that I purchased with my hard earned money as some kind of memento to all my slaving for scientific enlightenment. I have to settle for the fact that all that remains is some lofty journal reports with aggregated data that in all likelihood would have yielded the same results without my input.

I've considered it because sometimes I just want to know what their thought process is. I can only hope the work never actually gets done.

I have not merely thought about it, but done it. If you get a reply at all, it's something snippy, like "nobody's making you do these hits" or "I'm just a student, not a business" or some other such happy horseshit.

Telling them off makes you feel a little better, but it never results in anybody raising their wages. Nobody evil enough to expect somebody to work for less than a dollar an hour is capable of being made to feel ashamed of it.

I sent a bit of a nastygram last week. There was a hit that was timed and took a full hour with base pay of $1 but the chance of a $9 bonus. It was interesting enough of a game that I said what the hell and did it anyway. They claimed that 3 of the 72 trials would be selected "at random" for $3 bonus each. I got somewhere around 88% of the the trials correct but conveniently only one of them was selected for a bonus. So the other two came from the 8-9 I got wrong. Seemed awfully convenient, and if it wasn't a scam (my guess is they weren't "random" at all) it was still totally inconsiderate. $4 for an hour does not make for a happy Turker. I politely told them they should reconsider their bonus structure (plus a couple of impolite things, probably).

Has anybody else's HIT Forker just stopped working? I don't know what the problem is. I needed to restart my computer and now it won't load any HITs.
