Lot of misconceptions about that case fwiw. They were serving coffee at dangerously high temperatures to save money on refill costs (customers eating in store tended not to get refills when the coffee was so hot). There's pictures out there of her injury that people say are really bad but I have no intention of looking. Apparently her thighs fused together and she almost died. All she asked for was $20,000 to help cover medical expenses, McDonalds ended up delaying forever and only offered her $600. That's when it ended up going to court and the judge/jury awarded her much more. Here's an interesting video about the case
