They've been putting a hit or two of these up several times a day since the others ran out, but the format has changed. The articles are now inside the hit instead of clicking the link. To me, it seems more awkward, makes loading time longer, and slows me down in general. But then again, I haven't done a lot in a row to get "used to it". With a new layout, it might mean these hits are coming back. Anyone have thoughts on the new design, or whether these hits are coming back?
I like them better this way, was hoping they would do it. I tried one last night, and it made it easier for me. It can be a pain opening up lots of links. I only did them here and there before, but I was thinking if they post a big batch with the articles inside I'd devote more time to them. But... What bothers me is I just one for .14 for 3 instead of .21. An improved HIT format is not worth the pay cut in my opinion.
Yeah, I was talking about these last night. I hate the new format. Now I have to wait for the embedded links to load before and after accepting the hit. Slows me down drastically. Not only that, but it starts opening new windows and even has directed me off of MTurk a few times after submitting. Not digging these at all.
Oh. I hadn't done enough to notice the loading issues. That's no good. On another note, I now see 2 for .14 instead of the 3 for .14. That's not so bad.
yup .... this reminds me of Houdini's coupon HITS. They used to be up in batches over a 1000 at a time.
Are they gone again? I tried one when there were 3 embedded, and it really did take ages to load. Like,30 seconds.
Will you guys please leave feedback in the task regarding the format? I have left a few comments. Crowdsource is one of the few companies that actually responds/acknowledges feedback, so it would be worth a shot. And ohhh i miss the days of the Houdini coupons!
I tried one and the new format didn't bother me. I think it will help with the shorter articles, but in the one I tried, I still had to open the articles in a new window because they were both long. I did the two for 14 cents one by the way.
nothing good lasts forever.... EDIT: the just reposted some HITs and they're all screwed up. The hit page redirects to the article pages, and you cannot accept the hit.
It would be better it I trusted it more, I find myself opening up the windows anyway. I timed myself and though the it is technically less work it doesn't make me much faster. I'm not sure why they don't put them up for .07 apiece with only one item with the new format. Those would be quicker...
The pop up that takes over mechanical turk page is the Bloomberg Report website. I tried finding a way around it and nothing.
Yep. I even set FF to warn me if website is redirecting... nothing. Then I forgot about having that set and went into a qualtrics survey. Whoops.
I got on to see if anyone else was having this problem. Bloomberg here, too. I think they are trying to work out a better way and screwing it up. They are awesome and fast about handling suggestions and such from workers, so email them and let them know Email them at workforce@crowdsource.com I am doing so now.
I would really like the new format if they could fix this issue. I don't mind the pay decrease per hit since it is only 2 articles and you don't have to open up an external website. They're quick when they actually work.
HATE HATE HATE it! I've sent them an email about the new format. I hate it. 1) It makes loading times take forever. 2) Sometimes a page doesn't load and you have to open it in a new tab anyway 3) If you're on the second, or third keyword and that word is in the previous posts it scrolls you back to the top, just annoying. 4) My browser is getting jacked from one of the sites. Bloomsberg maybe? But when you view the HIT it takes you to the sites main page, it's hard to even hit skip HIT because it takes you there so fast. 5) I get the 'infinity submit'* more often with this new format. * Infinity Submit - My term for the glitch in which it doesn't submit the HIT it just acts like it's processing. If you try to refresh it tells you you've accepted another HIT to return this one. I had only had it happen 5 times out of about 500 of the previous ones, now I get it every few HITs.
I actually did find a way. When you accept a HIT, or when you move to the next HIT, as soon as you see the keyword has loaded hit the stop page button. This will stop bloomberg from hijacking you. You will have to open the links in new tabs, but you can actually complete the HIT.
