Why are nobody doing these?

Why are nobody doing these Crowdsource hits? These are always at the top of the list when I click on hits available to me. I tried once, and the url's to be copied sometimes are not complete and I don't know if it would cause a rejection if I used it. Any opinions please? I have emailed Crowdsource twice with no response.

People are doing them. But there are only a finite number of these HITs available to each individual.

I use to do these all the time but it started getting on my nerves when I can only do 3 one day then 5 the next.... when I absolutely have no other choices I'll do what I can of these.

What do you do about incomplete url's like: www.tomsmith...golfer.....hack.com

Thanks for any help. I am obviously a newbie. Just started Turking this week.

I'm unsure of what you mean but I always test the url to see if it works... if it doesn't then find another choice. Most of the time if the url has the ... and something on the end just copy and paste it and double check it because I find the url still is clickable.

What happens when you try to paste in that URL with embedded ellipses? The edit check in the HIT rejects it, doesn’t it?

In order to get the URL that the HIT will accept, you have to actually left-click the link. Sounds fishy, doesn’t it? ;) ::cough:: click-fraud ::cough::

If you try to right-click copy the URLs, you end up with undesirable tracking codes that are also rejected by the HIT.

There are methods that modify browser behavior so that right-click copying does not include tracking codes. They are different for every browser and search engine. This is the approach I take.

Search for “right-click remove tracking code search results” for the approach that suits you best.

    Welcome!

For the URLs with the ellipses, I just take the full URL from the address bar on the actual web page to which the "ellipses" link points. I know the rules say we're not supposed to do that, but that's actually the info they're after (it's the same URL, just not shortened by Google). I've never had one rejected for that yet.

I stopped doing any hits from crowdflower. I'm tired of them saying something was done wrong, showing me what should have been correct and it matching what I had done! And they have me blocked from the transcript even though I had done perfectly on them. WTF? You can't get a hold of them AT ALL! Their forum sucks and well, generally I hate them. In a nutshell :p

They ask quite a bit for the money. 700 words for a couple of bucks. It's okay if the subject is something I can write about, but sometimes I would be unable to write that many words on an unknown subject.

yeah, there pay rate is another reason I pass on them. I could do more in the time it would take to do a lot of their things. Much less they yelled at me about the blocking inappropriate images because I didn't flag a landscape of mountains. Yeah, because that is just soooo disgusting. Snow capped mountain ranges. Blech

Just got this email from Crowdsource regarding the incomplete url's. They say it is ok to use them.

    Hey there:

Thanks for your question, and I apologize for the delay in my response.

These truncated URLs are perfectly acceptable. Just be sure to copy the entire text in the box.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    Best,

    Maggie

This thread is about "Crowdsource" not Crowdflower.

Now when I tried this yesterday, the HIT would not accept the truncated URL.
