Ok, so here is the deal. I am totally computer illiterate! There seems to be quite a few HITs that I am not able to do because it tells me that I do not have Adobe Flash or javascript enabled. The thing is that I do have Adobe Flash and javascript enabled. I'm also having this trouble on other sites as well. Pogo is one of them. I'm literally about to pull out my hair...:(

I would say cuss and scream but I have already crossed that threshold!

Is there any computer "geeks" (meant in the best way) on here that could try to talk me through what to do or that knows what to do about this?!?

You can PM me or just answer on here, please use the simplest of english though as I am totally clueless!

    Thanks ahead of time...:)

Sounds like you have some setting on your java and such messed up. Try to uninstall java then your browser then reinstall both and see what that nets you. Just a guess on my part.

Easiest way to do this in Windows is got to control panel/uninstall programs and search for any java update and delete them all. Then go to http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp and download the lastest update. Java is very fickle about needing to delete the old updates sometimes.

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ for the flash player. It should tell you the version you have installed as well as your operating system. Dont forget to uncheck the "Yes, install McAfee Security Scan Plus" box.

Java and Javascript are two entirely different things. I have never heard of problems with Javascript being disabled, but Java can be and should be disabled due to its well known vulnerability to attack. If a HIT requires Java, pass on it. Java is unsafe even if the website is reputable, other malware can exploit it.

As to the problem with Flash Player, that sounds like an old version. I remember many problems with Flash several years ago with version 7 and 8. The newest version is 11. You can check which version you have by looking at the add-on manager. Its under tools in IE and on the main menu in FireFox. Be sure you have the latest version.

I will try to do some research on Javascript - problems with it are a new one to me. Are you using FireFox 15 and IE 9 or older versions? That's all I can think of now. But do not enable Java.

If you use multiple browsers, it may be that you have Flash installed for one browser and not for the other. I know there are separate downloads for IE and Firefox/Mozilla/Netscape/Opera. No download for Chrome, as is is embedded.

    https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Try this in the browser you Turk from. It will tell you which version you have installed, if any.

Well, thanks everyone for the replies. I did delete Java and Chrome and then restarted my comp and then downloaded Chrome again...still seems to be having the same problem! Oh well, I give up! :)

I guess I will survive never playing Poppit again...:(

I really do appreciate all of your replies and suggestions and thank you so much for putting it in plain english for me...;)

That has nothing to do with java or javascript. It's purely an issue with your flash player.

Does youtube work fine for you?

See, there's the villain. Just get a new copy of flash as jTurker, mTurkMeister and Khalinov said. And don't forget to close your browser while installing flash. Now, you're good to go... :) :) :)

Um, so would I just google flash to find that? And would I delete the flash I have now? And just to clarify...flash=adobe flash, right?

    ETA...Yep, I'm blonde...just look at the avatar...;)

I wager the OP had been using IE until they started Turking, and kept Flash updated there... then decided to get Firefox and install Greasemonkey and some Co0l 5crIp7 for Turking, without knowing that the new browser required its own version of Flash.

    But I could be wrong.

    Yeah, you would be wrong...;)

I have used Chrome and Firefox only for quite some time...Have never been a fan of IE...but yeah, isn't it nice that firefox offers such Co0l 5crIp7...:)

Also, I only use Chrome when turking!!!

Well, that is odd. I use Chrome myself and don’t see problems such as you describe.

Can you name a particular requester whose HITs are giving you Flash problems? I can try a few here.

I first started posting about this issue in the Great Hit's Thread. I'm not sure what the problem is, I just hope I can get it figured out! haha...:) I believe someone else mentioned they had a problem with one of the hits too with the same message, so who knows!

I have a feeling it will be awhile before I do...;)

I would like to know where all these .02 go...
If I knew... I would go there.

    With a truck...

    And a shovel...

    And drive to a coinstar...

    And retire...

And then put in my .02 and say that everyone should feel free to put in their .02...
Then i'd take out my .02...

Oh, and buy a yacht... Then have a party on my yacht with all you guys :)
