Beware of this HIT. They collect your information, the HIT submits fine - and then they reject it because there is a "glitch" in MTURK....after they have already gained your information. And even though there is this supposed "glitch" - they still have the HIT post, still collecting information and still rejecting with non-payment.

If it smells like a scam, looks like a scam.........

They did that to me, too. I was very angry over that rejection. I'm a newbie and have made some mistakes through inexperience, but I'm trying hard and my rejection percentage is, I think, pretty low, considering (1.6% after almost 600 HITs). I don't like to get unnecessary rejections, or to get cheated.

It is best to avoid HITs which ask for your personal information as it violates the TOS. There are some requesters who are rejecting submissions or else their HITs cannot be submitted. They are out to scam people - some reqs to avoid are Jacques Horton, Ron Burgundy and Kelly Hart. These are just a few names but there are many around scamming/spamming workers.

Avoid hits which ask you to test a landing page or which use words like 'easy work', 'easy money' etc. Those things are never easy. If you have some doubt, google the requester name and you will be surprised with the results. Check things well before working on dubious HITs.

They didn't ask for personal info. Well, I think they might have wanted gender and age, but no email, name, or anything really personal. Also, it was supposed to pay a nickel, not a ridiculous of amount, which made it seem legit. I didn't see any warning signs.

It was a survey: look at four pictures of chairs, pick the one you like the most, and say how much you'd be willing to pay for it. I answered and submitted, and very quickly got rejected with this message:
    glitch in turks system

I won't do any HITs for that person again!

ETA: In my first few days, not knowing any better, I was taking HITs that violated rules. Once I realized this, I stopped doing it and started reporting those HITs as inappropriate. I reported more today than I accepted! Most annoying are the ones that promise something like $3 just for 'helping' to test out a new site, and of course they always want your email address.
