hi fellow turkers.. haven't read all of the thread yet.. I have been the batch queen from day 1 of my turking and have noticed in the past 2 weeks MANY batch hits up that require a masters qual.. and it is not fair for people. I am all in favor of making requirements like 5k or 10k or hell even 20k if needed.. but a masters is almost impossible to obtain and just because you have it does not mean you do quality work. I think a nice medium is to have either 5k or 10k approved and an approval rate of 98%.. it is much easier to attain than a masters qual and still shows quality work. In addition the hits could also be designed a bit better for more/better results. For example the e-mail hits.. many times you are led to a screen where you fill out a form.. there should be a space to put that link instead of putting n/a.. at least they have something.. Well.. make money folks, but idk how we will if this keeps up :(

I always thought that about the n/a because probably 85% of the time the n/a was because of the contact screen. Even if he keeps the n/a screen i'd like a comment section to explain why it is there so he doesn't assume we're just bs'ing

Foreign turkers are just as good as US people. How can you be so certain US workers are not spamming in mturk. The ratio might be less but they are still there. If requesters have to improve accuracy, 99/5000 or 99/10000 is the only answer.

What I would do If I couldn't find their email at the school site or got a contact form, I would refer to the school url like something.bay.k12.fl.us or whatever it may be. Usually all employees are assigned to same form of email; such as first.last@something.bay.k12.fl.us or last.first@something.bay.k12.fl.us. I would google search their name in that form and it would either show up or it would reveal what the email form that district uses. I would find it 7 out of 10 times or be clued into the email form they use and use that as a guide. Even with this extra step it was still only another 20-30 seconds.

Sadly, the requester has communicated that it is not accidental.

this is true too. they might be suspecting the n/a as spam when it is just that little annoying form, not abuse or spam. or maybe they expect us to spend much more time before submitting an n/a. the message seemed vague. we don't know the specific reason so we shouldn't all blame certain demographics.
