I have never put anything up as a requester until tonight. I posted an odd job I wanted done for a website I work on. Well, get this. When I was creating the hit, Amazon automatically had the "Masters" qualification tied to the hit. As someone who was not familiar with the interface of the requester area, it took me a good 15 minutes to figure out how to remove that qualification. Amazons being awful sneaky trying to get that extra commission. Well played Amazon. Not impressed.

Indeed. We actually started finding this out about a month ago, when the Masters qual first came out. Here's that thread. The blog post that ewd76 cites in the middle of the thread's first page explains the sneakiness in detail and goes into other implications.

That's definitely a blog worth reading through for all Turkers.

That's probably why I never see any HITS. I don't have that qualification so the ones I can view are so limited.

If you really think about this. The Master's Qualification can be a positive in the long run. It means that requester's are going to pay a little bit better, not be trying to be the scamming variety as much, it is going to get rid of some those, than it is going to give us the workers something to strive towards if you really think about it. If we are doing the work we don't want the cheap HITS, but we are going to strive to get the better pay. Am I the only one who sees the positive in the Master's Qualifications? I have gotten the Master's Qualifications myself. I am more likely to try a new requester at that level and do multiple hits at that level rather than at the regular level with the possibility it being a requester that is just a rejection whore.

It's good for people who have the qual, but I know of two people on this forum with the qual. 2/4-500 means that requesters are missing out on a workforce by getting stuck with a randomly-applied qualification. A requester would be better off asking for 99.5% approval and 10k HITs approved. Those stats are impossible for a scammer to achieve, but still allows for a large workforce. I believe that going that high is overkill, and that 98% and 5k is safe, but I gave you that example to demonstrate that masters is a very rare qualification.

Congratulations for getting it, but there is no advantage to requesters. The blog NG referenced earlier has a post regarding this, using Tim Edwards (Requester) as an example.

That's awesome. Just a general question. How many qualifications do you have from different requesters. I'm wondering if having a wide variety of qualifications may help these guys out?

No. I was given mine at around 50,000. I think it's luck of the draw and also doing a wide range of many different requesters work.

I currently have 163 qualifications. I have been doing this on and off since 2007 when I saw it on Oprah's greatest gifts show when the Kindle first came out! I miss a lot of the old requesters at times!
