So I've made $40 in my first 7 days at mTurk. I think I spent half that time actually searching which HITs were decent enough to do. Hopefully this gets better as my first 10 days are over and I have more than 1000 HITs. That's what I am hoping for. If not, I find myself leaving mTurk because I spent like 100 hours to get that $40 last week and it's just not worth it.
Yes it gets better. Your cap will be lifted and your cup will over floweth with ability to partake in the almost limitless bounties that mTurk batch HIT's bring. Magical milestones of 1k; 2.5k; 5; and 10k at mere pennies for your troubles. Lol, all joking aside if you are looking for numbers than its going to take hours and hours at low wages to get there. If you are looking for some serious coin, surveys and transcriptions will get you there faster at the expense of milestone numbers. BTW, those milestone numbers mostly pertain to batch HIT's.
Find a batch that you can do quickly and go for it. Don't waste time looking for better paying HITs. Get those numbers up and the pay will increase with milestones like j0sh said.
Thanks for the tips. I like writing the most but can't seem to have any of the equals needed. I'm not into writing 600 word articles for 40 cents.
It all depends on time and luck. Somedays I spent 8 hours in mturk, just managed 5 to 10 dlr. Some days I spent 2 hours making as high as 20 dlr.

I made $44.79 in my first 7 days which was almost a year ago now. Just thought I would share that with you.
I'm far to talented, but since 2008, my web income has steadily decreased, thus I joined mturk. Hoping to get some investment money to throw around. HITs Submitted 49 — ... Approved 35 100.0% Going to be around $20 dollars. I won't do a task for less than 40 cents. About 5 hours of work.
