Well, my HIT was approved. I would have normally returned a hit rather than taking the risk of a rejection but this hit took longer than most of it's kind. So I took an educated guess and it paid off. If anyone wants/needs to know, the number right after the - is what I recorded as the time.
Today I tried a "categorize this image" from Princeton Vision. The task was to categorize images if they're a harbor or not. When I went to submit, it said my accuracy was too low and that I couldn't do it. 1.) I think I know what a harbor is... I TRIPLE checked my work. I don't get it. 2.) If it knows what the correct answers are, why on earth are they asking somebody to do this work? Pretty sure it wasn't a test.
Hi, I've just started on amazon a little over a week ago and have encountered a seriously annoying problem that I really need some help with. It appears my account has been suspended for literally no reason, it's nonsensical. I have no rejected hits and I've only completed 70 so far (trying to get to 100 for better HITS). Anyways, I emailed amazon asking why my account is suspended and they said I need to provide a copy of my drivers license. Fine. I faxed them a copy, twice now. No response, after 3 days, and I don't know what to do my account is still suspended. My bank & tax info was confirmed and verified, I am pretty sure this is some bologna. What can I do if amazon isn't responding, they say they haven't received my faxs, how do I get my suspension lifted?
Welcome to the forum! Keep trying to fax them. Try another fax machine/method to see if that works. If you get confirmation that the fax was sent, you can tell them this. Keep at them and don't give up. There are actually people in customer service that don't know what mturk is.
Newbie question here. How come when I click on certain hits that are showing as available to me, I will sometimes get kicked back to the main page and get a message that says "There are no more available HITs in this group. See more HITs available to you below?" When I search the requester's name again, the same hits still show as available. Does that mean they just think I've already done enough of their hits, or have they blocked me?
Hello, I need some advice. Been clicking away for close to 800 hits, and have come across a problem. I see a hit that I want to do, and I click on it, and I get accepted. I then click on the link to "Run the Survey", and the following appear: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit. Cookie
Did you right-click onto another tab when you click on the survey link? If that continues to happen, try another browser. Sometimes it's a problem on the requester's end. I would send him a message while holding onto the survey if you have time. Often times I've got replies as to what to do before the timer's up.

So I ran into another task like this. When I clicked "submit" it said that my accuracy was too low. I don't understand the point of these tasks or what I should be doing differently if they already know what the "correct" answers are. Anybody have any tips?
If you've done hits for them sometimes requestors (Like the Crowdsource people) will do that to limit how many you can do in a day/time frame for them. I stopped doing hits for any of the Crowd requestors because of that. You will get a message saying you have been blocked. So don't worry. I know there is probably another reason but maybe someone else can offer their explanation.
Thank you. I actually did get my first block today, from another requester (not Crowdsource). No explanation. I'm kind of pissed- the person approved all of the hits I did, so I know it wasn't "poor quality work." I guess I will try not to be so zealous in doing the same hits over and over.
Does anyone know how to get in touch woth turk assist developer? The support address I had is no longer valid. I cleared all my cookies today and ta freaked out. I can't view any hits. It says it needs to update and sync history but when I allow it to do this, it doesn't actually do anything. HELP!
Hi, I just started MTurk and did 89 HITs today. I returned 8 and somehow it says 3 expired on me. That's my 100 HIT limit. Anyway, my question is on what to do to avoid having a bad approval rate. Of the 89 HITs, only 18 are approved, and I'm concerned a bad job provider (I forget what you call them) could cripple my approval rating. I did 55 HITs for one provider which were very easy, but if they rejected them or if I get a few rejections from some of the other hits, I could have trouble getting jobs. One provider seems to approve instantly and even though the pay isn't great, I may continue to do a lot of those to build up my total so that a few rejections don't kill my approval rate. Any suggestions?
Hello, I've been on mturk for about a year now. I've done roughly 580 hits, and haven't gotten serious about it till now. At first I just did it to by my gaming mouse, then I bought some bluetooth headphones. Well, now I have gotten married, and I am wanting to use mturk to get some supplemental income to help me and my wife. I don't have to make the 150 a day some people on here do. I am looking for about 20-50 a day though. What would be a good place for me to start? I have only been doing survey hits till now, and have been doing anywhere from .50 - 15.00 a day. What are some good quals and requesters for me to look at? Any help is appreciated.
How long does one wait before they are allowed to do a HIT? I registered yesterday and spent most of the day reading the Forum. I've indexed for the Mormon church (over 110,000. indexed records. This experience should help. Any advice welcomed. DocK
look into this thread. there are some handy tools which help to identify reliable requesters. rule of thumb would be to get every qual you can get. the bread and butter ones are mostly closed-ones. always keep an eye up for new quals and try to get them. if you stick to the daily thread in this thread you will get best information if a good qual opens should be no more than 48h. usually it takes less than 24h if all your provided information are fine. verification preocess can take longer on weekend and holidays though
Newbie question here There are a couple of reasons that can occur. The most common is that there were only a few HITs (or maybe only 1 HIT) available and others accepted them between the time you saw it in your list and you clicked accept so there weren't any HITs left when you clicked it. Another possibility is you previously accepted the same HIT and either returned it or timed-out on it so it shows up as abandoned. It will still show up in your list, but you won't be able to accept it. If you refreshed your list and it still shows up in your list then that's probably the case. I don't know if there's a workaround for that if you've returned or abandoned it; I haven't found one yet. When I first started I didn't realize that some of the HITs had the submit button inside the frame of the HIT so after I completed the HIT I clicked return HIT since it was the only button available so there are several that always show up as available to me but I get that same message if I open them.
