Hi. I'm in my first week of turking and realize that as a noob, my access to HITS is limited (out of 500,000 HITS, I can only see about 180 that I'm "qualified for") - and even those that appear available aren't really because there is some other restriction in the HIT that isn't apparent until you look at the instructions (wasting a lot of time). Is there any way to filter out the hits that I see over and over again that I can't do (like Mexican Cannibis program participants or customers of Contour Cox cable)? Also, are there qualifications that I should go after to get access to better HITS? I've mostly been doing surveys and receipt validations. Thanks!
Good Day! I'm new at mturk its like its my 9th day of turking and earning descent amount of $. I email a couple of questions at mturk inquiry about payment methods and surprisingly I'm so dissapointed that In my country Philippines I cannot receive any payments via bank account! hence, can only receive amazon giftcard. It's so frustrating. here's the email message: Unfortunately, we currently don't have the ability to disburse payments via PayPal or Bank Account for Workers located in Philippines. We hope to offer additional payment services to our international Workers in the future, and I'm sorry that we're not able to do so now. Currently funds received in your Mechanical Turk account can only be disbursed to your Amazon.com Gift Card balance. I want to earn money from this work, not for the Gift Card. Mturk is one of the best online work so far for me, It has been a great experience. But I guess its time to move and find find another online job. Any suggestion is much appreciated...
My account hacked Hi bro, Today (2/26/2017) my account is hacked by someone. My email address associated with mturk is changed [redacted] without my knowledge. You can change your password without harming your account and you should. People do it all the time to protect their accounts. I've done it myself and my account is fine. I would go in and change your email and password.
daily earnings are decreasing Hey folks, a newbie here, just started on the 14th of this month. And i've noticed something peculiar. The first week, I had more than enough HITs that paid a good amount and as the week progressed, the number dwindled down to virtually nothing. Now all the surveys barely pay 25 cents... And when the hitscraper does show a good survey that pay above a dollar, when I go click on it, it says it's not available to you at the moment. meanwhile, the daily earning for me has dwindled down to below 20 and then 15 and then 10 dollars a day. And I've spent all day in the past 11 days doing this and trying to learn. I've attached a picture of my history of earnings. I am only at 497 HITs so far after 10 days of doing the surveys. is this the pattern I should expect, because I'm currently unemployed and this is my only job, and I was seriously considering it doing it full time at home which works great for me right now. Any thoughts are appreciated.
I'm new, so I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it. If you install a Panda script to grab hits quickly, don't you end up having to return a bunch of them if you don't fit the criteria or just don't want to do them? I think I read that you can set some parameters for some scripts, but it seems like there would be so many variables. The only script I have is Turkopticon (which is great for a newbie).
You only panda what you want to catch. You don't just panda anything otherwise you'd have to do a lot of returns. If you see something you want to catch, PandA it. Welcome to the forum! Welcome to the forum! You can easily add that back on. Do a search on Mturk, enter 0.75 on the pay section. Click 'GO'. With these results, click on 'Watch this page' on top of the results. It will get added to your Turkmaster.
Hello, i hope i'm in the right spot. If not so, please excuse me. I'm a student. For an art project i'd like to create a HIT that will look like this: Answer a simple question in no more than one sentence, write down the answer on a piece of paper, photograph (answer must be readable) and upload. The answer to the question does not require any research, as it is personal opinion. What would be a fair pay for that HIT? How can this hit be most appealing? (If i give for example restrictions on the size of the picture, would that refrain people from doing the hit? Do you have any Tipps on how to prevent misunderstandings, or to enhace the quality of the results? My first question would be how long do you want this answer? I know you said a sentence at most, but are we talking post-it note? Is there a minimum word count for the sentence, or is "I do" good enough? Also, how do you define "readable"? Some people (myself included) have , will you be rejecting people if their handwriting is hard to read? Any restrictions on the photo will make it harder to get people interested, for fear of doing it wrong without knowing it. How will you be accepting the photo? Will an imgur link work, or do you need direct photo upload, or do you need to email? Each of those has their own difficulties. I think imgur link would be the easiest, but that's my opinion; otherwise it would be increasingly difficult to get the photo from the phone to the computer to the hit. I just upload directly to photos.google.com, then rehost to imgur with a single click, super easy. As far as pay, that depends a LOT of factors. Ask a friend or a few turkers to test out the task and see how long it takes for a nominal fee, then get some feedback from them. If I were to see this hit, I would go into it expecting it to be something like "Answer a question in one sentence." The question (since it's an art project) I'd expect to be something along the lines of "What is your favorite ___" or "What do you think about ___" or "how does the phrase ___ make you feel". Given that, and say a minimum 5 word sentence or something, I'd expect at least $0.50. Though that's a very low-end, and would likely be overlooked by the majority. If you want your job done quick, pay $1, that'd be enough to get people jumping at the task, especially if it can be done in only a few minutes, with some time given to uploading the picture. Uploading the picture is a non-trivial task. It's overhead, and turkers hate overhead. It's extra time they need to spend doing something that's not directly hit related to get something to submit. Writing the sentence, doing a survey, classifying photos, that's all active, work-driven tasks. Uploading and formatting the picture is non-work driven, it's like addressing an envelope. There's other things you could be doing, so you have to pay well enough that turkers are willing to forgo other tasks to do the overhead on yours. Can you give any examples of the types of questions and types of answers you're looking for? Something as simple as: "What do you think about movies?" "I like going to the movies." Keep in mind: you may get completely inane answers like "I like movies" or "Movies are good." How will you handle those responses? You also might get things like this: http://i.imgur.com/mugsfax.jpg that's a photo I got from google. If people can find ways around actually doing a task, they will. So be prepared to handle fringe cases. As a general note for your hit: Never use Masters or specialty quals. I say this as a mturk master, it's a scam to get money from requesters. There's no point in it, Masters workers are no better (and in some cases much worse) than regular turkers, and the specialty quals are just surveys we fill out and can (and do) lie on. A good qual set is US/Canada/UK, 95% approval rate, >1000 hits submitted on the low end, and US, 99%, >10k on the high end. I would never go lower than the low end there, just because it's more work on you to review and reject scammers who are just trying to get through to auto-approval. Never make your hit last less than 1hr. There's literally no point, and it just adds stress on the turker because they have to work on it right away and sometimes it may expire. Hell, make it last 24hr, the only thing it does is tie up your hits slightly longer. It depends on how soon you need it. 1hr is a good time frame, and it's pretty much standard. It's what we expect. Never make AA (auto approval) longer than a week or two. Some turkers get really turned off by hits that sit pending for a long time, so try to get through them quickly. The auto-approval time is the maximum time it'll take, because when your hit has been pending for that time, it's automatically approved. Some turkers care about that. That's all I got. I'll try to check back in here to see if you have more questions, but I hang out in IRC all day, so I'm not really on the forum much. Create your Amazon Payments account Create an Amazon Payments account to complete your Amazon Mechanical Turk registration. DC is NOT listed in the state section for home address. Does this mean I basically cannot create a mturk account?
When I go here: https://payments.amazon.com/manageAddress I see DC in the drop-down menu. FWIW, I see all 57 of the valid state/possession addresses.
I'm not new but need some help please. I have asked MTurk themselves but no one will answer me. I used to get my payments sent to my Netspend "bank" account, then i'd send it to PayPal (since they don't have fees), but my Netspend has disappeared from my bank list on Amazon Payments. I have tried to re-add it as a bank -like I had before- and they say that I need to re-verify it with a printed and scanned monthly statement. However, they don't do printed monthly statements. So is there any other way I can get my money off of Amazon payments, and on to a card...? I do not have a real bank account, so I cannot put that as a bank.
That’s a hoot - my *real* brick and mortar bank does not send me printed statements, either (we get PDFs). You could always try printing what you do get and scanning it for the idiots at Amazon.
Yeah that's what I am in the process of doing now since they want to be so nit picky. Before, all I had to do was enter the amounts of 2 small deposits they made, which was much easier, but they got rid of that now too. Thank you for the reply.
