Well, that is a pretty reasonable response. It sounds like she is genuinely concerned with fixing the issue, so hopefully she will follow through.
I learned about Mad Cow, CJD and other TSEs. That's some scary shit. If I didn't love a perfectly cooked steak so much, I would probably read all that stuff again and go back to not eating beef. I quit mid burger for more than 3 years and had to force myself to eat it initially when I started again. And I am aware of what goes on in factory farms and with CAFOs. I do try to eat from responsible farms, grain fed farms. I figure there is less chance of a TSE at those too. n
much better than I was expecting based on the other responses I received from her. I'm a bit hopeful now
Now I'm wanting to blow all of my money on an expensive pair of wingtips to go with that suit that I never wear.
There's a deer form of Mad Cow called Chronic Wasting Disease. Just in case you don't want to eat venison too.
In your note you mentioned that you've never had a bad experience with a university person and these days you're pretty much right. Any problem is usually something broken or that they don't understand and while it might take awhile and be annoying they will almost always go above and beyond to remedy things. It still sounds like she thinks Amazon is going to do something - they don't normally help with this stuff do they?
I already don't, lol. But thank you. I grew up in the city. But when I learned about TSEs, it was actually a class for school. From my understanding, the only (land) animals that don't get it are dogs. And no one knows why they don't. And they all have crazy names, like in sheep it is called Scrapie, and the people who got it in the Fore tribe called it "the Kuru" which translated to "the tremors." It was all really fascinating, but creepy and disgusting to the point where I even asked doctors to give me a different RX if there was any cow in the medication I was taking at all. I was pretty freaked out by the whole thing.
if not, would trying to guide her through creating a HIT for all of the IDs she should have be plausible? It doesn't sound like she understands and was grateful for the suggestions about using the bonus method or creating an invite-only style HIT.
Sometimes I think about Mad Cow, and how symptoms can take decades to emerge, and I think about how it would be kind of ironic and maybe even a little funny if I ended up dying from Mad Cow after not eating red meat for the majority of my life. I guess I am kind of "fortunate" as far as vegetarians go as I can honestly say that there is not any type of meat that I miss, and over time I have become disgusted by the thought of consuming it personally, especially red meat. Milk products, on the other hand, I missed extensively when I was vegan. I think of myself as a pretty reasonable vegetarian. It would be super neat if I could magically make everyone else in the world stop thinking of animals as a food source but realistically I know that will never happen and I don't think people are evil simply because they eat meat. I do, however, wish there was a way to get some laws passed against the horrific, unspeakable practices in factory farming. If we as humans could find a way to treat livestock intended for slaughter (or other purposes such as egg farming, milk production, etc.) humanely I would feel a lot better about the world.
Not sure. It sounded like she has all the IDs? If so she could post a 0 cent HIT and have those effected submit and bonused. Otherwise post a HIT clearly labeled only for certain worker IDs at .50 cents but then it costs her more. Does Amazon charge to post 0 cent HITs? Someone feel free to correct me on this.
