MPC is also acceptable as a video player. Once I tried converting a flv file to an mp4 using VLC and it completely fucked my computer. I had to factory reset. Never had problems with the video player aspect of it.
How is this even possible, VLC or not? I can see like RAM corruption or something like that making you have to restart the computer but I have no clue how this happened haha.

That's crazy! I see they found a solution by deleting the corrupted file through safe mode, crazy that someone would even had to of done that. SOLUTION - I could delete the corrupt file in safe mode. All icons/thumbs are back and fine, and I imagine my slow computer/control panel window loads are not coming back either. VLC is open source and has a pretty big community behind it so I assume that issue has been resolved but who knows right? I really don't know much about MPC other than it looks like the old WMP from the 98-2000 era haha.
I doubt it's been resolved. This happened to me only a year ago in 2014, and those posts are from 2011-2012. It must be fairly rare.
It is a nice video player and I used to use it mainly into I switched to VLC. They are both are pretty simple to use.
When I built my custom desktop I had the option to get a blue ray drive and I did. I have only used it twice in over 2 years ahhaahhh.
