So I recently did a hit by David Broockman by the name of "Research survey! Usually takes less than 10 minutes." He had good TO ratings so I figured it was safe. I was very careful to catch ALL of the ACs put into the hit (including one hidden in one of the options and not in the instructions), but I was still rejected, saying I didn't pay good enough attention. I checked TO and apparently it happened to a lot of people. Did this happen to any of you?

I contacted him I think we should all drop him a note, if he doesn't want to treat turkers fairly we can all stop doing his HITs and spread the word of how he treats us.

I did the survey as well and was also paid. I remember that it had A LOT of attention checks.

I did that survey and took my time. And paid very close attention as I found it tricky. Paid by this morning and took it yesterday.

I know where I got the AC wrong. He had a question about gun control and the middle ANSWER was the AC. My choice of answer was the top answer, so I never even looked at the possible answers below, missing out on the AC and getting rejected.

I got paid on this HIT. I'm all for calling out bad requesters, but he's not one of them. Honestly his AC wasn't that horrible. I've seen multiple requesters place AC in a list like this, he just wants to make sure everyone is paying attention so that he can get good results. Everyone doesn't use the same type of AC.

He's not a scumbag. And for anyone saying, AC's are never put in answers that is false. I've seen it before when READING the entire question and answer. Next thing you know people will moan and groan about AC's being in paragraphs. None of this is new. Take your time doing the surveys and thoroughly read but blaming a decent requester is silly. Save it for the real scam requesters.

And yes, mine was promptly approved and paid.
David Broockman Research survey! Usually takes less than 10 minutes. $1.00 Paid

You should put your pitchforks and torches away. Trying to reverse a rejection for missing an AC is just silly. At least give it some time for him to respond before you harass him about it any further.

Please don't attempt to speak on behalf of all mturkers when you are only representing yourself. I will gladly do more of his HITs, even if I had missed the AC.

I think you guys and gals are missing the point and lets get back to the member who started this thread.

One of your questions was if you should contact him. The answer is yes, contact the requester. Ask him politely why he rejected your survey. Perhaps he made a mistake, especially since you stated you read the survey thoroughly and noticed his control questions. Most requester's are not all bad, so try to take what you read with a grain of salt.

And yes, like others, I took the survey and was paid promptly.

    Best of luck!

I guess I'll try and contact him. I am pretty sure I did not miss any of his attention checks. Obviously I can't go back and look at the survey again to see if I did, but I know without a doubt that I did not miss the one in the gun control question. That was the first time I saw an AC like that and it did take me by surprise, so I was extremely careful to read all of the options in every one of the questions following in case there was another one. That, coupled with the fact that so many other people got rejected, made me suspicious - especially since I always take surveys extremely carefully.

I was rejected as well. I contacted him, and he responded in about an hour. He said that there was some sort of error, and had told Mturk to reverse all the rejections. Hope this works out, as this would have been my first rejection.

So I contacted him and he said he'd be reversing all the mis-rejections. Hooray!
