I honestly do not see how its possible unless they hit the refresh button 500 times a day.

Its not a time issue, its an availability issue. Once you do a few hits, for example surveys, then there is nothing left to do.

And on a side note, the way the whole mechanical turk site is setup and displayed is unbelievably horrible and honestly I dont see how it could be worse.

Hits that are not available appear as available, most of the stuff you see you cant even do.

    A few things:

--Nobody bothers looking through the "General" forum. Post this in the daily HITs thread, which is where everyone hangs out and where you obviously should be anyway to help you find work to do.

--Of course the interface is awful, which is why there are awesome scripts like HIT Scraper that make it way way easier to search for stuff. Look through the various tutorials on here of how to use it and the other scripts that make mturk tolerable.

--Surveys can get you a decent chunk of $$ every day, but you need to be able to spot good batches and do them quickly to be able to achieve higher totals. Sometimes they get posted on the forums, sometimes you have to be constantly on the lookout (again, using Scraper) and trying out things that look promising until you find ones that pay >.20/min or so.

--Quite a few of us make good money on here. Having good quals and masters of course always helps, but as long as you're over 5000 HITs and you put in the time you can get there. I have a regular FT job and I still made $1300 on here last month, and I've only had 2 months making under $1000 so far in 2016.

$1000 month would be a horrible month for me.

There are scripts, extensions and pandas that can make Turking much more efficient. Look into those if you havent in all the years youve been turking.

Surveys are okay but some people dont bother with them. I prefer batches and I do a few bundred HITs a day at 10-15 cents a pop. It adds up.

HITs are displayed on a brief time delay, meaning HITs could be shown as available for up to a minute when all availble HITs have already been accepted. Same thing can be seen on batches, it might show 10k availble but there might be only 9k actually available. You need scripts and pandas to grab the HITs before they even show up (yes, it is possible).

PS: Some of us do bother looking and replying to posts on this forum, dont listen to the naysayers.:)

lol, I was just trying to be practical. With the forum as dead as it is in general, and the daily threads being where 95% of the content is, it's natural to direct him there.

1k per month, assuming there are 31 days per month, is only about $32 per day. thats not an unreachable goal. lol

My question is - it is possible to make that much without Masters? That's what has discouraged me from putting more effort into mturk. So, anyone making real cash without it?

True, but it’s not a great goal either. $32 a day, 7 days a week, holidays included - for about $1000 a month.

The poverty line for a household of one in the US is $11,880 in the lower 48 states (2016).

There are non-masters with good quals that make more then a lot of masters. That said, I won't lie and say getting masters didn't help my bottom line, but it probably wasn't by more than like 30%ish.

The trick is to get to 10K HITs quickly so there's nothing you don't qualify for based on HIT count alone, and then make good use of Scraper and the forums to keep an eye on what's going on. Grab any qualification batch you see, you never know what's going to be the next OCMP5 (or TOTW before that, etc.) that posts tons of stuff every day.

Keep working, and let the masters thing take care of itself. You really can't affect whether you're gonna get it or not, there are a thousand theories and they're either all correct or all wrong.

The thing is, it's a reachable goal even as a part-time thing (admittedly tougher if you can only turk at night for example). If you're doing it full time and have a clue, you should be able to fly past $32/day, as an average anyway.

All tampermonkey scripts (including HIT Scraper) should work fine on a Chromebook. There's a whole thread introducing you to scripts here. By far the best place to learn more is by reading and asking questions in the daily HITs thread, it's literally where 99% of the posts are.

    Thanks gman.

Looks like I added the tampermonkey extension to chrome but all I am looking at right now is a bunch of code. Very new to all this.

Where is the hits thread that everyone is posting? Thanks again.

Um, it's in the section that has like 1.5 million posts. Different thread for each day.
