    Hi all!

Just started with Mechanical Turk few days ago. I really enjoy it, just wish there weren't limits. :p If anyone has any advice for me, I'd really appreciate it!

    Hi BlueBerri,

Welcome to this Great forum. You will get many good info from here. Enjoy your stay.
There is a certain 100 HITs limit (It will count the HITs you accepted) for say, 10 days of working in Mturk, So after that you can do more and more HITs as much as you want.

If you're in the US, hit that limit every single day you're restricted. I did HITs that were crap pay but FAST. You'll notice that some HITs require you've done 500 or 1000 successful (accepted, paid) HITs to work on theirs.

Surveys are a good way to get your earnings for a day if you've set a goal. You can search for surveys that pay a certain amount (50 cents for 5-20 minutes seems to be normal). I did those for a couple of weeks but now try to focus on learning transcription.

If you're going to do transcription, print off the style guides for the different requesters. Having them handy (and not just as a bookmark) make it much easier to double-check your work along the way. I've also downloaded ExpressScribe. I'm using the free version but after a computer upgrade I'll get the paid/full version.

If you want to do fast hits that may pay less, you run the risk of running across a requester that seems to do mass rejections. I've taken the risk and haven't been hit yet, but I am fully aware I may take a hit to my approval rating.

Be sure not to abandon HITs. If your browser closes you can find something you've accepted by going to HITS > HITs assigned to you. A HIT is also considered abandoned if the time runs out and you haven't submitted it or returned it. The only negative aspect (that I've seen) to Returning a HIT is that it still counts towards your "accepted" HITs for the day and counts towards your 100. Also, most of the time, you won't be able to attempt the exact same HIT if you've returned it once. Depends on the type of HIT.

Also, you won't be able to touch your money until after those ten days. Nice way to build it up though. Good luck.

    Hi Riazam and Whimsy!

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. :)
So, after your 10 days of being limited to 100 HITs, what are the limits past that? And you do have to do 100 HITs each day for 10 consecutive days, or am I wrong?

You don't have to but it will help you in the long run if you enjoy doing fast/easy hits.

I don't know the limits after that. I think someone here posted that they'd hit their limit one day at about 3k hits.

Okay. Thanks for your quick reply! With it being Memorial Day weekend, I'm not able to work as much as I'd like to on the site. ;)
