Hello, I have a few questions that maybe you can help with. I became a member because I noticed how helpful everyone is and everyone seems to have a good knowledge base on mturking. And for that I thank everyone and hope that I can return the favor someday. First question is: Is there anyone that mturks that is on disability? i.e. ssi ssd and such. Because I am and was wondering how to report earnings or if I should my conscious tells me to do so, but my red horned shoulder friend says how and it seems like its not worth the phone call. I mean yes it is monetary gain but not enough to say I have a part time job. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also as most of you will come to notice I like to type the tactile sensation calms and sooths me yeah I know my therapist is work with me on this. I want to get into transcribing and take anything I do with pride and want to do it right. So are there any tips out there as far as the best way to enter into transcribing, and who are the best communicators in those hit fields so on and so forth. thank you so much Pancney
I'm a stickler for the rules and I think you need to talk to a financial counselor (there are confidential/annonymous ones I'm sure) about the best way to deal with your possible income and your ability to continue to receive your benefits. I know some people are allowed to make up to a certain amount of money before anything gets fuggered up. Look into that maybe? If that's the case, you can certainly check yourself along the way and just make sure you don't go over that amount. You'll have to take possible transcription bonuses into account as well. Oh, and there are weekly reports sent to your email from mturk. That can help you keep track.
I know you can make 1000 dollars a month on disability, the question is will you get that much turking highly doubtful in a month. I know regarding taxes that if you were to only work with 1 requester and that was it you would have to file taxes on that amount, however I work with a wide variety I have never had to file taxes doing mturk. That is a limit of 600.00 dollars or more in a years time with only 1 requester.
