    Interneteditor,

I am not sure if there are risks but I noticed the person posting has 1 post (so they joined to post that information) and it seems like it may not be an official version of TO. But if it is, then it may be ok (haven't looked into it but just wanted to post a general advisory).

    Just be cautious.

Ah I see Andy, thanks for that explanation. I thought you had some insider info, but yes now I see your reasoning makes good common sense. I should have noticed :) Thanks again.

It is not anyone associated with TO.
I got an email from lilly this morning.
So just be patient and it will be working soon.

I had a look on TO and the blog etc but can't find a way to donate to the project. Considering how much money I earn through not being scammed, thanks to TO, I'd like to pay some back.

what I do is just have the turkoptiocon website opened in a different tab and when I see an interesting requester on mturk I copy and paste the ID number. Sure it takes about 30 seconds compared to 2 seconds but it's worked for me. :)

It depends though - very often you take the time to do that and when you get back to Turking the HIT is gone and it was all a waste of time.

I agree but it's better than nothing and if you have a computer that has a nice processor ( i believe) one is able zip through windows or macs

See that's my problem. It's the summer holiday so my kids have the main computer most of the time while I use my little netbook. It doesn't like doing too many things at once (like switching between tabs can be laggy). Also got a tiny screen so that hampers me a bit too. Not to mention having to re-adjust my fingers to touch type on the smaller keyb! Ah well, school is back soon :)

yeah I have a netbook as well. I love it. Had it over a year and never had any major problems except for replacing the charger and got a new battery just for the heck of it. Sometimes it does have it's bad days with lagging (rebooting always fixes him) but other than that this is my baby. <3 I recently got a mouse to plug into my netty and the scrolling wheel is a godsend. I cannot wait to get an extra ram for it. <3 <3 but i'm a pretty small person so it's just right for me. (not a little person lol)

They are great little things aren't they? I justified getting mine by the fact I was doing NANOWRIMO and saw myself sitting in the car by the sea front being all inspired and everything. In reality, I spent more time in the soft play centre getting nasty stares from all the Alpha Mums because I wasn't helicoptering the kids.

I couldn't do it without my wireless mouse though, I hate the touchpad, have to switch it off or I make all kinds of mistakes.

Anyway, sorry, gone all off topic on the thread now. Sorry :)

Yes! I agree, I write as well too. (I don't know if this happened to you but) Don't you hate when you are typing something fantastic and then out of the blue the touch pad quickly highlights it and erases it. My heart shatters all the time when that happens.

OP: I apologize too with the going off subject. I'm somewhat notorious of doing that...forgive me. -_-

It is not an official version of TO and I did make this account to post the discovery (I never had an account with this site, so now was a good time to make one). However, I had permission from Lilly through an email.

Oh yeah, that is why I always switch the touchpad off if I am writing. The thing I hate most is when the touchpad puts the cursor somewhere in the page other than the end of the text and several paragraphs end up in the wrong place. I rarely look at the screen when I am typing out of my head.

    Sorry for continuing OT :/

Hi all! This should be resolved now. You can get the updated TO here at http://turkopticon.differenceengines.com

Also, you might be interested that we're doing a study over the next few months to look at how Turkopticon users use Turkopticon and how crowdwork could be made better. Participating involves a one hour Skype or Google Hangouts interview and screen sharing as you show us how you do work on Turk.

Interested in participating and over 18 years old? Contact me, Lilly (lirani@uci.edu). Alas, we don't have funding to offer compensation for participating at the moment, but we will use what we learn to improve future crowdworker systems.

--------The official UC Irvine study information sheet that says the same thing in more legalistic terms:

Share your perspective on crowdsourcing systems.

A team of University of California Irvine researchers are conducting a study of crowdsourcing systems and practices. We are interested in learning about how crowdsourcing affects your technology work. Findings will be used to develop published research on crowdsourcing that may inform policy, best practices, and public understanding of crowdsourcing among the general public.

We will interview you in person, by email, or through an audio chat system – as you prefer. The interview will take approximately one hour. You may choose to remain anonymous or be cited by name in the research. Participating in the research will not bring you any direct, immediate benefit, but also has minimal risks. Participants must be over 18 years old.

Participants will not receive any financial compensation.

Can anyone help me? I am technologically dumb. I found where to install the "pending earnings". When I click on the install button, it tells me that any extensions can only be added from the chrome web store. But on their site I can not find it! It also says I do not need Greasemonkey if I have chrome because I thought that was my issue at first. What am I doing wrong and does anyone have advice in laments terms? :)
