Would you like to be able to chat with fellow forumers/friends about, say, TV, other work at home opportunities, and suggestions for this place, etc?

If so or if not, make your case! I think Andy is super cool and will hear us!

For what it's worth, I would like a "everything else" place to post here. I think this place rocks as-is, but I think that would make it even better. Turking is LONELY work, so anything that alleviates the loneliness is a Good Thing.

Isn't that what people were making fun of the other forum for?

Personaly I like that this forum is strictly dedicated to Mturk and would face palm if an Everything else section was to suddenly appear.

Basically if u were referring to TN...then i think its about their ditching member policy...

A section to just clear out the tensions of turking wherein we could discuss any crappy shit other than turking is I gues what Athena was tokin bou...

True...but i do get the feeling that it might alleviate many off-topic posts that gets wierdly into some of the turking convos.

    No, not really.

We're laughing at them for ONLY letting people (at a supposed mturk forum ) post about non-mturk things (at, again, a supposed mturk forum.)

I kinda get that, but I don't think there's any reason why we can't make friends here and chat about whatever here. I've had many, many online friends transform into IRL friends. Also, some place where we could talk about other places to make $ online would be cool, even if it was a small part of the general discussions.

It might be a good idea to have an Off-Topic sub-forum in which people could post messages that have nothing to do with Mechanical Turk or Turking in general. That's what I've seen on another forum I use, Fairfax Underground. The admin there created an entirely separate sub-forum for Off-Topic threads and it's actually more popular than the main forum.

The main thing is that it would increase Andy's administration responsibilities, 'cause he'd now have to police the other threads so he could move messages to the Off-topic forum. Additionally, I don't see that there's an easy way to let Andy know that a thread needs to be moved. (On Fairfax Underground, you can report messages to the admin to let him know if they need his attention.)

I'm 100% not for it. I like that personal stuff may pop in here or there, but I do not want an area dedicated to OT-talk. Once you start talking about everyday stuff, we become more personally invested in the others and Feelings Get Hurt. If someone wants a place to chill or BS, there are tons of other places for that. Facebook, yim, other forums, in-game talk, etc.

I understand wanting it, I'm just one of those people that really doesn't want to read about a dog, what happened on TV last night, or why someone's going to leave their significant other. Sounds harsh, but I had to write it out so there wasn't a question about my stand.

Yeah, thumbs down here. There's already enough off topic chit chat amongst the threads, and I like it that way. It would be different if this were an inactive forum, but I don't really want my "What's New" feed clogged up with little kids art projects and movie reviews. That's what real life is for. Honestly if I started seeing more of that than Turk-speak, I wouldn't be here as often. (Which might make some of you supah happy, lulz)

Thumbs down from me. There is no way for me and others to ignore it even in a separate section. I use the newest posts to find the postings I want to view. Newest postings include every section.

    Overwhelmingly against right now.
    Huh.
While I sorta suspect some againsts are TN minions, it doesn't matter, I guess.

I am banned from TN and have been for months, so I hope you're not including me in that. I think Booty's also been banned, and Playa (I believe) never even started an account there.

No, I definitely wasn't thinking of you as a potential minion. Or Playa. Yáll are definitely cool.
