Anyone care to comment on the qual test for top tier writing? Did you take it more than once?

I didn't pass it. Not upset about it, but a bit surprised at the tone of the feedback. I assume the editor was having a bad day or something. I've been b*tched out by an editor before, and if you write anywhere much, it will happen at some point. But...you get the idea. Thanks in advance.

Not to put down a requester but most of crowd source is made up on English teacher grammar Nazi's. Even if you failed the writing test for them you will pass with flying colors for any other requester.

That's the impression I got, mtnsurf. Again, I don't mind being edited, but I do mind being told that I don't use proper grammar or punctuation and not being shown the mistake. Oh well, plenty of fish in the sea.

I think the problem is not the editors, it's the AP style. I have only had one snotty feedback from an editor. AP style is so different that I'm sure they get very frustrated with grading tests from those who don't know it. No way you can learn it in a day. I've been writing in AP style for years, and I still make mistakes. But to an editor with a lot of experience in that style, common mistakes are very frustrating.
