About naturegirl
Biography:
I haven't been working on MTurk that long, but once I realized that I was consistently doing at least $10 an hour by focusing on transcription, I decided to help out other Turking transcribers by writing an ebook on all the ins and outs of the Turking transcription world. I had a lot of fun doing it, too---lots of research involved, but I love that stuff.
Lately, I make at least that rate when I do CS Top-Tier writing HITs, and that should be higher as I get faster there, too.
Still, there's no way I'm giving up transcription, because I think it's got a lot more potential in the long run. It's not even clear to me whether the CS work can be used as samples to get other work, whereas I know I can get references from certain MTurk transcription shops for even higher-paying work elsewhere as I progress. I don't like to put all my eggs in one basket. I don't think any of us should.
Anyway, I'm a part-time Turker and also a freelance writer. My other big project at the moment is helping CastingWords revise their style guide. I'm their lead writer on that.

Got a transcription question? The ebook I wrote for Turkers has the answer!
Yes, really. It's the one we all figured out together. Details on the main companies, their pay (including turnaround), what you need to get started, how to improve your skills and work smart...it took weeks, but it's all in there.
More at my blog, transcriptress.com. (Thanks, Andy, for letting me link!)
