I believe people have, but can't be sure. A member, Paul, once mentioned job prospects outside of mturk stemming from work done on mturk. He did a lot of writing tasks and seemed to excel at them.
I don't want to divulge too much because I'm not keen on AMT's policies, but I'd like to ask.
Has anyone ever gotten a more permanent position due to their work on mt?

I've gotten two offers, but both were from requesters who were offering half the rock bottom wages they'd been paying on MTurk.
Needless to say, I passed.
edited to protect my butt
My real question is: is it out of line for me to approach a requester and ask? Or is this a violation?

Uh...well I'm no good at legal speak. Short answer is, I don't think it's a good idea.

The word solicitation in there could make any unwanted advances on your part something for a requester to hang on to? idk. I don't recommend it but I'm sure others have done it and have benefited from it. They're not going to publicly state it though...I'm pretty sure of it.
...and i know that stuff's supposed to be directed at requesters, but it's all i could find
Was it for a coupon blog? $5/500 word articles?
Ah that's what someone wanted to hire me off mTurk for. I can only use the same keywords so many times before my mind goes numb and they wanted at least 3 a day, add that to the fact that they wanted to do it offsite and have my trust (******* LULZ like I trust ANYONE let alone some random person who was Mike on mTurk and Jenn in my email) and I tossed that in the book of bad ideas.
I was offered a staff job once (doing work that wouldn't be applicable for M-turk...totally different from the HITs they put up) but I ended up having a falling out with the owner.
That's terribad Athena, was it an issue of compensation?
