Turking for an Australian vacation!
OK so here goes...
I am new to mTurk (and this forum) and I have been thinking about what I am going to use the money for... I am taking my wife to Australia for our 5th anniversary!
I do not need to turk for supplemental income, so 100% of the proceeds will be applied to our trip. I can only turk here and there, as I work full time so I'm not expecting to make a giant pile of money every day. Luckily, our 5th anniversary isnt until December 2016 so I have time on my side.
Doing the rough math, here are the figures I'm coming up with:
Money needed: $5000
Approximate days until depature: 640
Progress: 1.25% $62 (lets not judge here, I just started)
Average earnings per day needed: ~$7.75
Its looking like we are going to need around $1400 for the flights, which will be the first major milestone in this ridiculous endeavor. I do have a Delta SkyMiles card with around $350 worth of points for plane tickets that I will be using towards this as well. Another credit card I have $125 in cash back I can use as well, plus any more miles and cash back i accrue in the next almost 2 years.
Basically the point of this is to go on an awesome trip for "free" at the expense of the credit card companies and mTurk. I pay all my credit cards in full every month so there is no money wasted on interest and the only one that has a yearly maintenance fee is the Amex for the skymiles (it pays for itself in the benefits that come with it so no worries there!)
I will be updating this periodically as I pass milestones. Wish me luck fellow turkers out there... I am going to need it. A lot. I mean like a LOT
That's a great goal & quite doable. How's it going? I've pulled in only $13 so far on my best day but want to bump it up significantly. I can totally see you achieving this.
If you manage $10 per day you can finish in 500 days, even make $6,400 at the end of 640 days.
I'm making progress, I'm a bit over $200 (~4%) so far with about $15 more pending. I haven't been able to get $7.75 every day (or anything some days) but I have had a couple $30 days and several $10-$20+ days in the mix so it should average out to be above that in the long run. I'm still fairly new to turking with 1500 approved hits, so I should be able to maximize my earnings as I learn the ropes. On my credit cards I earned another $15 worth of Skymiles this month and about $6 on my card with cash back. Grand total between rewards and mTurk I'm at $696 (approximately 14%)

You're off to a great start with only 1500 hits!
Do you have an update from the past month?
