    Red face New Turker

    Hello everybody,
My name is Courtney. I just started working with mechanical turk, so I am very new and hoping to learn a few things from the rest of you. I am interested in transcribing, but have never done any transcribing before. Any advice or tips on how to get my feet wet?

Hey Courtney, welcome to the forum.

Just surf through the forum and you will find all the info.
The two important requesters who put the transcription jobs are CastigWords and Speechink. You can find a lot of details about these requesters in this forum. There is a dedicated sub-forum for CastingWords in the section 'Requesters'
Beware of the shady requesters, use turkopticon, turkalert...

    Happy turking!
Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before.

    Welcome Courtney,

What moonwalker said. I also do transcription, so I'm sure I'll see you around the forum.

    Good luck and happy turking!

    Here is turkopticon. http://turkopticon.differenceengines.com
Use it to check requesters to see if they are crap or good.

    Here is turkalert.. http://www.turkalert.com

You can use this to be notified when requesters you like post work.

Some advice on how to get hit specific QUALIFICATIONS.

In the Great HITS area you will find a thread named 'Can't Find Good HITs?' with a date. Hits get posted so fast it is hard to post one you found good to share. Quit Lurking, ask questions, offer help, share good hits, doing these simple things can have you earning great money.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your Turking.

Make sure you do the qualification tests for as many requesters as possible, this will open up new work to you.
