He was reported to CW for ripping their stuff off and in turn, CW changed their layout so that nobody is confused. Btw, I can transcribe 1 hour of audio in 3 hours, so it's not a minimum of 4 hours...that's even pretty bad audio![]()
I have never seen a bigger joker than Special Words. He is the same guy who says that he is a college student and so can't afford to pay more than $1.8 for an hour of audio transcription. Can you believe it? $1.8 for an hour of audio transcription. Who in his right might will do his transcription, when Speechink and Castingwords give a minimum of $15 per audio hour compared to his measly $1.8.
Now he has become a cheater too. He has copied the transcription screen of Castingwords along with all the instructions of Castingwords, so that people might think that they are doing Castingwords transcription without knowing that they are working for this msier jerk.
Even I once sent him an email asking if anybody ever does his transcription and offered to do his transcription for $10 but he never replied.
Some idiot in mturk must be doing his transcriptions that's why he is still in mturk for such a long time and posting new jobs regularly. And for everybody's information, transcribing an hour of easy and clear audio takes minimum 4 hours, so at last that jerk pays you $1.8 for four hours of work.

She types pretty fast an she's got to take editing and formatting into consideration too. She's worked for CastingWords for years now and knows her stuff. Her auto correct (or similar version of) dictionary is also filled so she's not typing every word out every single time. And yes, CW changed the format of their HITs.
shariqueahmer, I thought you said you weren't working on mturk until you got your check? Change your mind?

Whimsy is correct about my autocorrect and, my typing speed right now is around 95 wpm with very few mistakes. I've been at this for over 5 years with CW, so I've got the format and style guide memorized twice over![]()
Melissa, would you mind, if I asked you what is the average amount that CW pays for experienced transcriptionist like you? I only work on Speechink hits, so don't know about the maximun amount that CW pays.
Melissa, can you please guide me who are the top transcription companies, who are willing to hire home-based transcribers from India. I'm currently working with Synergy Transcription services. Please guide me in this field as I'm new to transcription and only doing it for the last six months. I want to benefit a little from your knowledge and experience in this field. Thanks.

um the only place I can point you is to odesk. There is tons of transcription work there for Indians.
But Odesk is a den only for those people who already have made a very favorable reputation with some of the employers by working with them for over a long time. Now the employers with loads of $$ don't try any new applicant like me they only go for the old trusted ones. That's why I directly contact some of the transcription companies and get work from them instead of waiting for such a long time in Odesk.
No, actually it's not. I've got a VERY high paying medical contract from there and I had absolutely no feedback on odesk.
