I have a kaffir lime, but its more of a bush than a tree and it doesn't produce fruit. I just use the leaves for southeast Asian cooking. An actual fruiting lime tree would be an amazing thing to have.

I'm planting tomatoes, bell peppers, grean beans, swiss chard, fennel, squash, sorrel, zucchini, maybe okra if I have room, plus various herbs. I'm thinking about maybe some peppers too since they do well in pots, but my wife wont eat spicy foods so I won't get much use out of them.
One year I dried my cayennes, and made my own crushed red pepper.

It's a Mexican key lime tree.

Had to Google kaffir lime. It sounds like something I would love too. According to Google it does produce fruit in SF, but mostly grown for the leaves. I have a Key Lime at the moment. Swallowtails love it.

I am taking a much needed vacation this weekend (even though I should actually be moving, but the vacation was already paid for so...), but wanted to just say thanks to everyone who has been posting on the forum. I've been doing a turk at work thing, which means no downloads, just straight Chrome. And it also means that everything posted here has been super helpful. So thanks and have a great weekend!
