Yea, it's pretty bad. One of the reporters just broke down into tears on the air.

Unless you have survived a major hurricane, you have no idea about the devastation. Seeing pictures in the TV is bad enough, but when you are in the middle of a major destruction, it can be very overwhelming. After Andrew it took almost 2 years before my neighborhood looked normal again. Now I put up shutters even if they predict only a category 1 hurricane.

We've had 100, 500, and now 800 year floods in the area here in the past two years.

I agree, seeing it on tv is 1 thing but living it gives you a whole new idea of what the good folks in Texas are going thru.

We are in a uncharted territory when it comes to climate now. Even if you live in a no flood zone, it is no guarantee.

We had a 1000 flood here two years ago. It totally gave me a whole new respect for water and how destructive it can be. While it's "business as usual" in most of the areas, there are still a lot of homes that are just abandoned. There are businesses that were at "ground zero" that they haven't been able to demolish because of insurance reasons...I'm so tired of looking at them at this point.
