How many of you guys used him a lot?
I been using him starting out. He pays very low, 2 cents per card, but I've been getting all them approved in less then an hour, helping my rating also.
I figure for every 25,000 I knock out, thats $500.00. Of coarse 25,000 is a lot, but I'm getting quicker and quicker as I get used to every entry and key stroke.
Yeah.. those pay like $1.50/hour. The only people that should be doing them are newbies and people without any other quals whatsoever. Only use them to get your numbers up. Search the forum for his name.
The thing I like, is the quick pay. I can do a couple hundred of them, go to walmart, come back, and my moneys there! Any others that pay the same day that are highly reptuable?
Not that post anything even close to the number of hits Oscar does. You can almost always find an Oscar hit, but hits by most other quick payers tend to show up irregularly and disappear in an instant.
For that reason, and pretty much that reason alone, it's not a bad idea to stick to Oscar for a while at first, to build up a layer of stat protection. And then never work them again...

CrowdFlower and CrowdSource are better than Oscar Smith IMO. Some of their HITs have qualifications but are usually low (95% approval and 1000 HITs) and some have none at all. They usually pay within a day.
I know, when you're new it's all very exciting to start getting money. You'll get past that though My goal used to be $20/week and I hated any requester that didn't approve me right away. I think I was just paranoid though after being burned by so many work at home "opportunities" before. Now I have HITs from almost a month ago that haven't approved and I don't care. I still withdraw money at least 3x/day and make at least $25/day.
Try to only do HITs that don't pay great (no matter how fast they pay) until you get your 1000 HITs approved. If you continue to do HITs that pay less than minimum wage, you give them the impression that they never have to raise their pay because their work will always get done. Which gives new requesters the impression that they can pay $1.50/hour and get perfect data. And it's a lose-lose for everybody.

Reason: until, not after. seriously, not after.
When I first started Oscar Smith was one of the main requesters that I did work for along with Crowdsource and Crowdflower. They are very reliable. I have never had problems with any, they always pay and from what I have read here on this forum, with the exception of one thread I have never heard of any of these requesters blocking or scamming people. They could pay more. But look at some of the work posted by other requesters who pay just as little if not less and constantly reject or block you from future work. I personally wouldn't recommend Product Rnr, they seem to block people constantly, at least they used to. They blocked me.
Oscar Smith approves and pays quickly and he definitely helps get your numbers up. I'm not sure why some of the members on this forum dislike him but I like his system of judging..if you screw up..he lowers your score, you improve it goes back up, it's a grading system. My score with him goes from 88 to 92. I'd rather that grade system and get paid than rejections, not get paid and mess up my stats.
I Turk For Burke!!!
I did hit hits a long time ago and all were approved. He's ok... small pay for the work but good to get your hits up.
I also did the Oscar hits when I needed to get my numbers up. 25,000 is a lot to do, no matter how fast you are, for the simple fact that so many people use him to boost numbers when they get burned with mass rejections and need a quick fix.
You know, what I appreciate about Oscar is that he's reliable and fair---he's upfront about his payrate, and you can take it or leave it. Plus, if you take it, he'll pretty much pay you. Nothing shady about that.
Crowdflower pays worse, considering the amount of work lots of their HITs seem to take.
But back to Oscar...since I'm an overthinker, I do have to hand it to him for knowing his market, or maybe that's his workforce. Just like footballchick said, there'll always be Turkers who need HITs like Oscar provides. I did a bunch of HITs for him in the very beginning (not that I'm anything but a newbie Turker yet!), and he's still gonna be one of my go-to requesters if I ever need to pull my stats up in a hurry.
So I do agree that the principle is, no one should have to work for shockingly low pay. But I also assume that when Turkers take Oscar's HITs, they do it because they want to or need to, even if just to improve their stats so they can do other work instead. So in that sense, they're temporarily getting value out of his work that's beyond the .02/HIT. Is it wrong of me to think that's an even trade all around?

Yes, they have found a way to give themselves a compensatory value to offset their slave wages. Doesn't make me hate them any less, but I do admire their ingenuity.
