Default Amazon Payments account was suspended

For a week now my amazon payments account has been suspended, and I've been trying to figure out why. I finally just received an email from them today saying they can not confirm my information.. but they have refused to say why. This is their exact response.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to confirm your account information which is required in order to utilize this service.
We regret we are unable to provide further information on this situation. Further correspondence regarding the restrictions of your Amazon Payments account may not be answered
Has this happened to anyone before or heard of it happening to others? I don't understand how difficult it is to verify my information. They just asked for basic stuff like name, address, SSN. I certainly didn't lie about any of it, I have no reason to. I'm so confused. I'm going to try calling them, but I'm worried that will still leave me with a suspended account.
My MTurk account seems to be ok. I'm still able to log into mturk, it just wont let me do tasks. It gives me this message "You will not be able to use Amazon Mechanical Turk until your Amazon Payments account is in good standing." I'm even still getting messages from requesters. I was just qualified for something today and was emailed about a survey to do yesterday, but I can't do them.

Would it be a terrible idea to try and make a new account? Probably not a good idea, but I'm seriously desperate.

I've read people posting about having their accounts suspended and the only thing that seems to have helped is to call them. Keep calling them until you can speak to someone. I would not try and create a new account...just my opinion but I think it may complicate matters for you.

I wish they would be more specific about what the problem is and how to fix it. I hope you let us know how/if it gets resolved.

Thank you, justlookin. I know others have had their amazon accounts suspended for pretty much the same thing, but they all seemed to get theirs to work again. Amazon's latest email to me makes it seem like it's a final decision. I feel like I've done something really wrong, but they wont say what it is. It's so frustrating.

I will definitely update if anything happens. Hopefully a phone call will help sort things out.

I didn't have to call to get mines unsuspended. I emailed them and within 24 hours it was unsuspended. It was sent to an account specialist. I wasn't told the reason, but I think it was because I entered an address that I recently moved to. Also the address is a newly created address.

I think it's been a few weeks now since this happened. Just two days ago after going back and forth with these people, I finally got my account back. And here is how for those who are are going through the same thing..

What I did was email them info that they never even requested. I emailed them whatever I could since they never specified what they couldn't verify. I sent them proof of address, ssn and birth certificate at first. Then they sent the same cold response as earlier. So then I messaged them to ask about my remaining balance. They responded by suggesting I was not an American citizen over the age of 18 (even despite showing them proof of both), and that my account is blocked and my funds are no longer available.

At this point I was really ticked off, I was born in the U.S. and have never even left and I had already sent them proof of it. But I was hopeful that I could get more communication out of them since their email was different than their previous ones. So I sent yet another email to them. This time I included my ID and more proof of my address, and I let them know I have never owned a credit card (I've read people have had issues with that). And then finally I get an email from Amazon (not Amazon Payments like before), and they said they need proof of my residence, even though in a previous email I already sent proof of it. But I did as they asked and faxed over a bank statement. If that didn't work, I was planning on faxing them whatever I could since I now had their number. And I was planning to bombard them with more emails, I was not giving up. But within 2 days they lifted my suspension and my money was still in there. Kind hard to believe really...

I don't know if this made a difference, but during our back and forth emails I got more and more agitated and aggressive with them. I told them I would continue to email them as many times as I needed to and said I would contact the CEO.
During this entire time I never once called them. I have terrible phone anxiety, but I would have called as a very last resort.. maybe. Luckily I didn't have to.

I know this post is long, but I thought I should post it in case someone with a similar problem stumbled across this. Annoying them with emails to the point where they actually do something about the problem seems to help. Or calling them, whatever.

Out of curiosity, how do you email a proof of address?

You can scan something and attach it as a pdf or even take a photo of it and attach it as a jpeg. Most places will accept a utility bill as proof of residence.

    Like bobbie said.

This is exactly what they wrote me.

In order to verify your information, please provide a copy of an official letter mailed to you at your physical address in the US (bank statement, utility bill, etc).

I just got suspended. I am not real sure I want to bother with it anymore. Seems odd to me...I have been a member for years with no problem now out of the blue I get suspended. I have only a few dollars but it's the idea of it. Makes me feel like a criminal or something. I think I will stick to making quilts and selling patterns from now on.

When I click on account settings I get this garbage:

    ???en_US.null.title???

    ???en_US.null.info???

    -----------------------------
    what is that?

The next day...I have an email from them saying I am reinstated. I guess it's all good. I should have called myself null here. I am not sure I like that word.
