I don't get it. How does one file a "slave wage" suit after willingly doing a job in the capacity of independent contractor?
Imagine if mturk is sued and they decide to give all of us 1 dollar for every hit we have done as part of a settlement.
Honestly they should have gotten nothing and it should have been written off as a stupidity tax. So hard though to not feel a little happy since Crowdflower is an awful company.
Depends on where she lives: stupid state where it depends on your genitals, stupider state where it depends on your BC, or a smart state where no one even cares.
What was Crowdflower and what did they do/offer? I don't remember anything about them other than their rep for being bad and awful.
Honestly, I don't understand how that lawsuit was won. They claimed to be 'misclassified' as independent contractors, but that's exactly what you are on mturk. So, what makes Crowdflower different from any other shitty paying requester?
They did tons of stuff. Categorization, sentiment, writing, search engine crap, etc etc. Also operated under the name Dolores Labs or something, maybe others, can't remember.
A smattering of different tasks. They were most famous for their own system being out of sync with mturk for the number of tasks left, so you'd always accept a HIT and then get an "oops, no more work!" message, which got known as "getting crowdflowered". The only HITs of theirs I ever bothered with were these weird ones where you'd diagram a sentence or something, they took like 2 mins and paid $.50.
