They mostly want people that have been around for a while to pretty much feed them hits to do, which is kind of already being done with the good hits threads that are around here and most of the time, are on the first page of newest posts. It IS annoying to see people begging for hits to do when if they took the time to read two or three threads down, they'd have pages upon pages of hits to do :)

    Well call me GUILTY!

I've been creating a thread everyday recently where myself and others share HOT HITs. Going through old threads nets maybe one or two HITs for 20 minutes of searching. HITs expire and get done up quickly so most times it is not a beneficial use of time to search old threads for really good HITs.. Good requesters, maybe!

So myself and a couple others start a new thread every day with the newest and hottest HITs. Been working well. Had some lurkers but quite a bit of participation and I think all of our numbers have gone up as a result!

I've not seen any one begging in the threads I've been reading. Complaining about a lack of HITs this weekend... But not begging.

I don't know... I just kind of feel a little insulted by your post. But I am a sensitive guy... LOL

    Happy Turking!

You're not getting what I was trying to say and it's probably my fault for not elaborating a bit more :). I've been here a while, obviously, and have been on Mturk for years now and I have seen people come into this forum and say please give me good hits or something to that effect when all they have to do is look down a few threads and they will find exactly what they are looking for. I wasn't calling you out for what you do with those posts that you guys have been participating in. If that's what works for you, then by all means go for it. I don't participate in those threads because I work for only one requester so my input would be quite boring if non-existent due to this LOL. I was merely referring to people starting new threads saying things like give me links to good hits to do or things like that when there is a thread that lists a ton of them right below that LOL. I wsn't trying to offend anyone; I was just pointing out that people obviously don't read the forum (as the title suggests) when the answer to that particular question is staring them in the face.

Told ya I was overly sensitive! :)

I do know what you mean though. I'd be pretty frustrated if some one walked into today's thread - which has been awesome! And before bothering to read the tons of EXCELLENT HITs in that thread from today just asked, "Hey! Any one know of any good HITs?" I'd probably lose it!

lmao that's what I said! We were all new once, we all had questions. But most newbie questions have been asked and answered 100x over. If you're new and you have a question, chances are that someone has asked it before you. Search for it and if you can't easily find it, then go ahead and ask. But when you ask a question and I search for it and within 10 seconds find 26 pages of the same answer over and over again.. well, it just shows laziness.

I'm just as guilty though, I have asked questions without searching. But only for non-specifics. When I want to know something or report something about a particular requester, I search for them. About an Amazon policy? Search. Who is a scammer? Searchy searchy!

When I first started Turking, it was my first time ever on any forum. I didn't know the rules. I confess, I was the annoying newbie. I may still be annoying, but I've got no real excuse now!

I don't snap until somebody gets snotty with me for not giving a thorough enough answer to suit them, as if I'm somehow obligated to give them as much of my time as they care to demand. Be grateful I took the time to answer you at all.

I bet some of these people refuse to tip any waitress who doesn't linger at their table to pre-chew each bite of their food and spit it into their mouths.

How can anybody with such a sense of entitlement stand to be turking at all?

I have noticed the past few days the lazy newbie questions on here. Or even worse they are in the wrong section. The search button is amazing let me tell you!!! Having a great hit thread is nice.. and I don't mind when newbies try to help themselves and participate in other parts of the forum.. but the ones just looking for easy answers are driving me nuts!

Some of us, between working Mturk, Raising kids, Checking the Forums, Keeping up with payments from differn't sites and emails, some of us don't have all day to sit behind a computer and search for answers, so it is easier the forum and communicate with people, and sometimes I want to hear a variety of members opinions. I'm a member of atleast 10 message boards, between focusfanatics, here, craftsman community, chevy talk, ford talk, all my car message boards, and more, and I've never ever heard someone complain so much on a forum. If you don't like people asking questions, then why the hell are you on a public message board? I came here to learn and communicate with people, not to shut up, not voice my opinion, and not voice my questions. I'm going to learn, and I'm going to communicate with other members whether people want to complain about it or not, that is what the forums are for. If you don't like it, try going to a library rather then a public message board. ;) The sad thing is I'm in America, and only see Americans complaining. Why, because most of us Americans are un grateful. You waste your time complaining about people posting questions on a public message board, why don't you go to Hatai or Africa or somewhere where you don't even have a computer. Quit fucking complaining like a 2 year old, just my 2 cents. I'll probably get banned for voicing my own opinion, but I had to do it, I get tired of hearing 3 year olds complaining and being ungrateful for what they have.

Nobody's saying don't ask a question; we were just saying maybe try using that little search box up top before you ask and if it's been asked before, you can either get the answers you're looking for or add to that thread to get an answer instead of having 100+ threads on the same topic, which clogs up the board.

    Exactly.

You don't have time to search the board for a thread identical to the one you're about to post, yet we're supposed to make time to answer the same question multiple times a day? Why is our time less valuable than yours?

I have never been on a forum before. Therefore, I was unaware that you can type a topic in the search bar and find the answers. I'm sure that those of you complaining have NEVER made rookies mistakes. Instead of posting a thread complaining about people, maybe give them some advice and guide them, not criticize and make a big deal about it. Just sayin!

More than likely, you won't be. Trust me.

The search function kinda sucks. There's always going to be people new to forums as well as turking. Shit sucks. People are going to vent. But they aren't being specific, they aren't calling people out by name - they're giving advice and tips WHILE venting. They're giving alternate routes, their mindset on helping others, and coming up with ideas. If Booty doesn't do it, I'm going to write that damned eBook. I'm going to sell it for 2.99 though. Commission is higher and so is perceived value.

It sucks being a newbie to a forum and read the "elders" bitching about newbies. That's how I got myself banned from TN - for speaking out about bitching. But they did it behind closed doors while smiling and bein so sweet to newbies.

It's different here. Your learning curve for forums/turking is BUMPED SIGNIFICANTLY because you're told to catch up or gtfo, essentially. Everyone here helps in some way - even if it's comic relief or putting in their unnecessary two cents (talking about myself here - look at my post count - I've dropped many a useless post).

p.s. hundreds of new threads on the same topic is sometimes nicer than a newbie coming through and dragging up a dozen threads that are a year old. Threads fall off the first page, but those old threads being dragged (drug?) up can sometimes be worse. My opinion only.

Did you really mean to come off this arrogantly? You know, "I'm way too busy to look for answers, and since you aren't, fork it over"?

Since you brought up the analogy of 2 and 3 year olds, it can be pretty irritating to hear them constantly ask "why," "what," and "how," but at least they have the excuse of not being able to look things up.

My 2 cents worth is that if you got time to ask, you've got time to search.

    New Discussion on mTurk?

    Hey all!

I assume this is one of the many reasons "the other forum" did what they did...

Myself, personally, I don't mind answering the same question for the 100000th time. The best way to learn the material, subject, task, is to explain it to others.

I do take strong offense and feel real disgust when I see obvious "scammer" posts and questions. I would say , "Those should disappear," but then I wouldn't be any better than "others." They should be cited as examples of what NOT to do!

I do hope that Andy starts a NEW category with the title of, "New mTurkers Start Here!" And then those of us who don't mind answering the same question 10000000 times can participate and those who don't can avoid the discussion group. There, of course, would be a bunch of stickys at the top that myself and others would be glad to help write - not that everyone would read them... But then again, we are all just a bunch of entrepreneurs playing in the sandbox! Every one is different and we all need to play nice or the sandbox will no longer be fun...

Pfftt... nuff said? Did you even read the OP? The complaint isn't about people asking question. The complaint is that people want to be hand fed and that is NOT what message boards are about. Tell me, if you ask a question on one of your many other forums that has been asked over and over again already do you have people standing in line to answer? Or do you get people complaining and telling you that the answer is already there so quit trying to take the easy way out and do a search? For some reason I have a feeling you get the later quite a bit. You yourself said....

Well I don't have all day to sit here and hand feed you the answers either.
