I ask even though it seems a little obvious, I think that most would be a little...iffy... about emailing amazon and asking why they got it, it would almost be like saying "Are you sure I am supposed to have this? Me? Really? Well, OK, if you're sure..."
I don't think amazon would bother putting out a Golden Batch cause there's nothing in it for them. They can't take the time to answer emails that aren't automated, or watch out for our best interests so I'm not convinced they have any real agenda at all. I think it's completely random and probably based on a drawing of names out of a hat or some such nonsense. I haven't seen any hits that require a masters worth doing because the pay is usually terrible, so I don't even think about it unless it's brought up here
They were bothered enough to completely throw everyone off and assign masters on a Saturday though. Amazon is childish, that's why I still believe the golden batch theory is true, they wouldn't just randomly assign a qualification since requestors pay money to post HITS, they would want at least somewhat decent workers working on those HITS. They gauge performance with those batches more than likely. this is just me being hopeful, amazon is still very dumb by assigning the qual to less deserving workers and not ones who worked on the program longer. People with 5-6k should NOT be getting that qual imo
Oh, sorry! I have it set to show the max amount of posts per page, which I think is 40, so my page 9 is probably your page 25 or something. Should probably specify that any time I link threads.
Well, last year they were giving out masters every single day of the week, literally. They didn't have just one single day to give it out. I dont think they were only giving it out Thursdays this year, but I didnt pay enough attention or track it to know for sure. I believe they have multiple golden batches, not just one. Depending on performance over a few months, they give the qual out. Once you have masters, below average performance on these batches will cause a revocation.
Agreed. If they want to give a special qual to people with 5-6K but not to people with 50-60K, they should be calling it something else. "Masters", to me, means someone who is very experienced at something and can be relied upon to be a proficient expert. Someone with 5K and 2 months on MTurk is not going to have the same experience and knowledge as someone with 50K and 2 years (or more) on MTurk.
I feel like it's got to be a golden batch, or some other completely random thing. If it were by stats and percentages alone, or working with a variety of HIT types, or requesters I think I would have gotten it by now vs. someone with a lot less HITs (not that I feel there's anything wrong with that). I've had weeks where I've turned in 500+ HITs per day, weeks where I've skipped days, months where I've worked on anything and everything and never skipped a single day, and recently I've been ill so I was away from mturk for a couple weeks straight and just recently came back...still no masters here. I gotta go with either its completely random or there are special batches triggering them possibly watching your account and then maybe monitoring/measuring all your other stats from that point on.
As more and more people earn the Master's qual, its value declines sharply. The pool of Master's qualifiers just keeps growing -- the number who ever lose it is probably negligible. Anyone who's had it for awhile has observed how quickly 'good' hits disappear in Master's now, compared to when it was rolled out. Not saying that others shouldn't be added -- it's just a numbers game. BTW, anyone notice the Master's hit template that misspells separate as seperate? Gets me every time!
I would be prone to agree on the larger batches, but I see higher priced surveys go by every day that I would do and cannot because they require Masters.
Even if they are just more of the same, still they are there and an opportunity that people without Masters don't have.
protip: amazon sets masters as default when you go to make a HIT, a lot of requesters don't even realize this. Having masters is a HUGE advantage to those without it.
I'm really in the same boat as you in terms of stats. I'm sure that it's not based on any sort of over time ranking. I doubt if it's entirely random, either. So I've pretty much just resigned myself to never getting masters and simply not worrying about it.
After looking at some recent stats from the new masters, I don't believe it's that. People have gotten the qual on as little as 6k approved and some of them didn't grind out LARGE BATCHES
I do see a trend of that, but other people have submitted a large amount of HITS over a short period of time....they have no masters. Can you define short amount of time? Here's a sample of my own stats of where I did the most hits in the shortest amount of time: I know people who have done way more than that and still no masters.
Don't worry. getting masters is most probably either random selection, golden hits, checking your account regularly, watch hits, or anything. Cos my friend got master a two or three days ago. I can't clearly say. But surely within the week. He had only 97% approval rate. He is one in 17 masters selected in the previous week. Don't know i think there is timing. Because last three months no masters selected. Within one day 17 workers approved as masters. Don't think it on too much. Put it on your luck. I asked tons of queries about the masters, how you get. But he doesn't know how. Also he has $130+ bonus with total earnings of $640. Wish you to get masters. Before that try to earn with your current qualification.
Buy stuff from amazon.com and when your total purchase hits $10000000000000000000000000000000, you will get masters qualification.
