hi, good to hear that you got approved. even i gave the test a few days back bvt my qualification was rejected. according to me i was more than 90% accurate. i dont know how much accuracy they expect! can you give me a few tips that are the most imp to crack the test?

clogan98, congrats on making it through. That test looked like a true piece of work to get through. If you're able to do everything that's required in a short amount of time, they're certainly money-makers. I'd never be able to with all that has to be formatted. shreyas, I think I remember a stat mentioned somewhere about only one mistake (as in one character mistake) per xx characters. The requirements are strict and an extra space or punctuation mark or a misspelled word get you out of the running quickly.
Thanks! Yes I'm excited. It definitely looks like money I wouldn't mind taking in as a part time income. The rules were strict. I can't remember how many mistakes you were allowed but it was something like 5 character mistakes for the entire transcription which included punctuation as well. It does seem very legit too. I had to have a phone consult with someone from speechink and they make you do another trial video (but paid me $10 and it was a horrendous interpretive dance video that, even though made me want to gouge my eyes out, it had about three lines of transcription). I just hope that I never get my account suspended like I keep hearing! I only do between 1-15 HIT's a day (pre-video) which mostly consisted of transcribing. Plus I'm an amazon seller so I'm hoping they'll see I'm worth leaving alone!!!
Found it • The error rate of each transcript must be 0.5% or lower. o This means one incorrect character out of 200 is permissible; if a word is misspelled by one letter, the characters of the entire word count as incorrect.
bingo - that's exactly why i didn't put myself through the test. plus, i'm painfully aware of my limitations/inabilities when it comes to transcription work. i have to edit a LOT. congrats on getting it. good luck.
Clogan, I just got my qualification HIT approved. But don't know what to do next. I didn't get a Qual Granted Notification from mTurk. And, also when I checked my Speechink dashboard, it's also not showing anything about my qualification approval for Video Transcription. Confused. Are you able to do their video transcription after you got that HIT approved?
Check your emails abrahamrohithroy. After my qualification hit was approved (after 7+ days) I received an email from Priscilla saying that they would like me to work on the video transcription project, but I have to ring them up first to get acquainted. I don’t think it is possible to get the qualification without personally ringing up Priscilla. I am a bit scared of telephones, so I think I am going to have to pass on the qualification.

Yes you have to call her and you don't get to choose your assignments. She will email you which one you are allowed to do and that is the only one you'll be qualified for. Really sucks if it's a bad one. Fore warning, LOTS of power point presentations which means double typing as you have to add all of the onscreen text. EXTREMELY time consuming.
Then, I think I'm also gonna have to pass on the qualification like tonic did. I signed up in mTurk not to do this kind of job. I am the boss and I selects the assignments. It's the real beauty of mTurk; I get to choose my work, not someone assigning it to me, set a deadline and fire me for not completing the work in time.
The pay [40¢/min of audio] seems to be low compared to the amount of work. Is there any bonus system for video transcription similar to verbatim hits?
You get a $10 after doing 1000 minutes.But yes, it's a lot of work and time consuming when you not only have to transcribe constant audio but also 100 power point slides.
Formatting is what the above quote doesn't have at all. Try their verbatim hits and you will think that video transcription is a piece of cake.
So for example, I just went ahead and did all the power point slides before transcribing the audio. For an hour and a half video, the power point slides alone took 33 pages in Microsoft Word. Yeah, I'm getting frustrated.
Standard video transcription rates are $3/min. you could better go off transcribing for some other company to get your talent's worth.
Powerpoint slides can be copy and pasted just an FYI. I do it all the time for antoher project I have! And, yes the pay on these stinks, but if people continue to do them at these prices, they'll continue to post them and not boost any pay. $10 bonus for 1000 minutes is just downright insulting!
