  1. Yep, it was a good one. Just over 10min slightly distracted, probably could have done it in 7-9.

  2. Still possible. Field training labs takes quite a while (few years) to get them to do hand signals, marks, etc so 7 months is still pretty early in the game no matter what dog you have IMO.

  3. No way is he too old! I just got my puppy at 9 months old and he had almost no training. Now he sits, speaks, lays down, shakes, and does a weird bunny rabbit thing.

I said yes. Hope that's ok.

  5. It just becomes harder to teach as they age, not impossible. Depends on breed and your patience but you can teach dogs at any age.

Does anyone know if we can do the SafeSlinger HIT again? I did it a few months ago with my boyfriend and it let me reaccept it a few minutes ago, but I'm not sure if they want the same people re-doing it..

Any tips on how to do it? I read somewhere to hold a treat in one hand and then hold out your other and continually say "paw"? lol

  9. He can still learn everything! Just be patient =)

  10. Never too old.

  13. This is pretty much exactly how I taught Rocky...
http://www.****how.com/Teach-Your-Dog-to-Shake-Hands I got a bag of tiny training treats from PetSmart and he learned reeeeeallly fast that way.

    (w i k i how, obviously :)

  14. When you say, "paw", do you mean shake? Cause that is one of the easiest to teach. Or do you mean, "paw" as in "hi five"?

    are you me?

I'm about to take the same stuff and same activity in half an hour :D

  20. You don't need to add the verbal cue until he knows what you want. He has no idea what "paw" means so "paw paw paw paw" will just sound like Charlie Brown's teacher to him. Just say it when he does it so he can associate the word with the action.

(...sorry if your dog is a girl.)
