I think that's my #1 pet peeve on TO. I wish they'd just get rid of the "promptness" rating. so, lunch is on you? CONGRATS!
A regular employee may not pay 14 - 60 days after work is performed. I know my last full time job, I had 3 more checks after the lay-off.
I'm sure you all have already figured this out, BUT on these BJ hits, you can select the top icon (like the red exclamation point) they will select it for everything in that column.
I think with the GTRIs in particular it's because they have approved/paid bonuses so quickly in the past. But you're right, people are really unreasonable about it.

Because some requesters are really good about prompt payment and that sets a standard. Note, I'm NOT saying that BlueJays don't pay efficiently. But there are plenty of requesters out there that do pay as you're working your way through the batch, and that sets up an expectation for some people. OCMP and Medcrowd both do this, as did a Masters batch that I worked on yesterday. I think in general people are less fearful of investing time in work because payment = not rejected. The faster you get approved, the less you have to worry. I'm not saying that's an excuse to be impatient, but I can absolutely understand the desire to have things approve fairly quickly. Edit: In response to someone else's comment, no, promptness absolutely should not be removed from TO. If I have to choose on a given day between working two batches, and one batch pays within 1-2 days, and the other batch sits and rots for the maximum time, I darn well want to have that knowledge. Again, I'm not saying people should be impatient and expect immediate payment. I may be wrong, but did BJs approve "on the fly" in the past? For some reason I thought they did, before I worked on them (I only started with these last two batches). If that's the case, again, an expectation has been set up. GTRI set the same expectation themselves by paying out so quickly the other day with bonuses rolling in while people were still working the batches. People start to worry then if a requester changes their typical behavior and starts slowing down payments, which is completely understandable.
